Job summary

Ingersoll Rand plc is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Machine Shop to ensure product quality across machining processes. You will monitor, inspect, and improve quality through root-cause analysis and action implementation, aligning with customer requirements and quality plans.

The role requires hands-on measurement with precision tools, a solid understanding of GD&T, and experience with SPC and PFMEA. Travel is as needed, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• > Strong understanding of machining processes and GD&T for interpretation of drawings.
• < Hands-on with precision measuring instruments (Vernier caliper, micrometers, height gauge, bore gauge, dial indicators).
• < Knowledge of SPC, CAPA, 8D, 7QC tools, PFMEA and Control Plans.
• < Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
• < Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components.
• Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications and quality plans.
• Conduct root cause analysis for machining-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor process capability and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams to improve quality performance.
• Review first-off approvals and process validations.
• Analyze rejection and rework trends and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure calibration compliance for measuring instruments used in the machine shop.
• Support customer and internal quality audits.

Job Overview:

To ensure product quality throughout machine shop operations by monitoring machining processes, conducting inspections, driving process improvements, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of GD&T and drawing interpretation.
• Hands‑on experience with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Indicator, etc.
• Knowledge of SPC, CAPA, 8D, 7QC tools, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
• Good problem‑solving and analytical skills.
