Job summary

Vimalarani in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, seeks an experienced Quality Inspector to perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of engineering components and assemblies. Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • 13 years of experience in Quality Control/Quality Inspection in engineering/manufacturing settings is required.
  • Good knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection and tolerances is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / quality management systems is preferred.
  • Hands-on with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge and other measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of components and assemblies.
  • Inspect machined, fabricated, welded and bought-out parts as per drawings and standards.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finish and visual quality using measuring instruments.
  • Identify and document non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports and quality records.
  • Coordinate with Production, Design, Purchase and Stores to resolve quality issues.
  • Support final inspection and dispatch clearance of machines/components.

Job description

Role & responsibilities
  • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspection of engineering components and assemblies.
  • Inspect machined, fabricated, welded and bought-out components as per drawings, specifications and quality standards.
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, surface finish and visual quality using appropriate measuring instruments.
  • Use instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge and other inspection tools.
  • Review drawings, specifications and inspection requirements before inspection.
  • Identify and document non-conformities, defects and deviations and coordinate for corrective action.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, rejection reports and quality records.
  • Coordinate with Production, Design, Purchase and Stores teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to ensure compliance with required quality standards.
  • Support final inspection and dispatch clearance of machines/components.
  • Ensure proper identification, segregation and traceability of rejected/non-conforming materials.
  • Follow 5S, safety and quality procedures within the workplace.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 13 years of experience in Quality Control / Quality Inspection in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in machine building, automation, fabrication, machining or welding will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional inspection and tolerances.
  • Hands-on experience with Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge and other measuring instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of 7 QC tools, Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / quality management systems is preferred.
  • Good documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
