Job summary

BlackCube Labs in India seeks a senior QA engineer to own QA for fast‑moving web products. You will drive test strategy, create and execute plans, and ensure release quality beyond basic test execution.

You will implement automation with Playwright or Cypress, perform API testing, and collaborate across engineering to ship reliable features.

Qualifications

• Hands-on QA experience testing production web applications with ownership of test strategy and release quality.
• Strong automation experience using Playwright or Cypress and building or maintaining automation frameworks.
• Deep API testing experience across functional, negative, auth, and edge cases.
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript; working knowledge of SQL, Git and CI/CD; Python is a plus.
• Experience writing test plans, reproducing defects, and validating fixes.
• Ability to define release readiness/quality gates and own feature readiness to ship.
• Exposure to AI/LLM testing challenges such as hallucinations and non-deterministic outputs.
• Understanding of RAG/retrieval-based systems; distinguish retrieval vs generation failures is advantageous.
• Experience testing auth, access control, and multi-tenant applications; performance/security testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own QA for a fast-moving engineering/product team from day one.
• Develop and execute test plans, reproduce defects, verify fixes.
• Define release readiness criteria and quality gates for new features.
• Build/maintain automation frameworks with Playwright or Cypress.
• Perform API, performance, and security testing as needed.

Job description

• 4-6 years of hands‑on QA experience testing production web applications, with ownership of test strategy and release qualitynot only test execution.
• Strong experience in test automation using Playwright or Cypress; should have built or maintained automation frameworks for evolving products.
• Strong API testing experience covering functional, negative, authentication/authorization, contract and edge-case scenarios.
• Hands‑on coding experience in JavaScript/TypeScript; working knowledge of SQL, Git and CI/CD is required. Python exposure is a plus.
• Experience with manual, exploratory and regression testing, including writing test plans, reproducing defects and validating fixes.
• Should have experience defining release readiness / quality gates and be comfortable taking ownership of whether a feature is ready to ship.
• Exposure to testing AI/LLM-based products is strongly preferred, including challenges such as hallucinations, non‑deterministic outputs, prompt/model changes and incorrect or unsupported responses.
• Understanding of RAG / retrieval‑based systems and the ability to distinguish retrieval failures from generation failures is a strong advantage.
• Experience testing authentication, authorization, access control and multi‑tenant applications will be preferred.
• Exposure to performance/load testing or security testing using tools such as k6, JMeter, Locust or Burp Suite is a plus.
• Should be able to work as a senior individual contributor, independently owning QA for a fast‑moving engineering/product team.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to write clear bug reports, test cases/test plans and actionable reproduction steps.
• This is a contractual role; candidates should be comfortable joining for a fixed‑term engagement and taking hands‑on ownership from day one.
