DP Holdings in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor & Billing Engineer to manage estimation, BOQs, budgeting, contractor billing, quantity verification and cost control across ongoing and upcoming construction projects.

The role requires strong technical and commercial understanding, with site visits within Bengaluru and to Udupi as needed. You will coordinate with management, architects, engineers, contractors, accounts, and vendors from our Jayanagar office.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4–7 years of experience in quantity surveying, estimation, billing or cost control.
  • Experience with construction companies, contractors or real-estate developers.
  • Strong knowledge of civil, structural, finishing and basic MEP quantities.
  • Proficient in MS Excel with cost trackers and project reports; AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor & Billing Engineer to manage project estimation, BOQs, budgeting, contractor billing, quantity verification and cost control for our ongoing and upcoming construction and real-estate development projects.

The candidate will work from our Jayanagar office and coordinate closely with the management, architects, project engineers, contractors, consultants, accounts team and vendors. Site visits within Bengaluru and to project locations in Udupi may be required.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, commercial understanding and the ability to independently track project costs from the estimation stage through execution and final billing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
ESTIMATION AND BOQ PREPARATION
  • Study architectural, structural, MEP and working drawings.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and item-wise BOQs.
  • Prepare preliminary estimates, detailed estimates and project budgets.
  • Prepare rate analyses based on current material, labour, machinery and transportation costs.
  • Update estimates whenever there are design changes, specification changes or revised drawings.
  • Prepare comparative cost studies for different materials, specifications and construction methods.
  • Identify missing information, discrepancies and potential cost implications in drawings and BOQs.
  • Assist management in evaluating the financial feasibility and construction cost of new projects.
BILLING AND QUANTITY VERIFICATION
  • Verify contractor, subcontractor, labour and vendor bills against actual site quantities and approved work orders.
  • Prepare and verify Running Account bills, interim bills and final bills.
  • Take and verify site measurements with the project and site-engineering teams.
  • Maintain measurement sheets, bill abstracts, quantity records and supporting documents.
  • Prepare client bills wherever applicable and track certification and payment status.
  • Check billed quantities against approved BOQs, drawings and executed work.
  • Ensure all deductions, advances, retention amounts, recoveries and taxes are correctly accounted for.
  • Maintain complete billing records for every contractor, vendor and work package.
PROJECT COST CONTROL
  • Prepare project-wise cost budgets and cost-control trackers.
  • Monitor committed costs, actual expenditure, billed value and balance cost to completion.
  • Compare budgeted quantities and rates against actual quantities and rates.
  • Identify cost overruns, quantity variations, wastage and unplanned expenditure.
  • Prepare variance reports with reasons and corrective recommendations.
  • Track project profitability and provide periodic cost forecasts to management.
  • Maintain a clear cost-versus-selling-price analysis for development projects.
  • Coordinate with the accounts team to reconcile project expenses and payments.
  • Prepare monthly project cost reports and management summaries.
TENDERING AND PROCUREMENT SUPPORT
  • Prepare tender BOQs, work packages and contractor enquiry documents.
  • Invite and compare quotations from contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Prepare technical and commercial comparison statements.
  • Evaluate quotations based on rates, scope, specifications, exclusions and payment terms.
  • Support management in contractor and vendor negotiations.
  • Assist in preparing work orders, purchase orders and contract documents.
  • Ensure that the scope mentioned in work orders matches the approved BOQ and project requirements.
  • Maintain updated market rates for major construction materials and labour items.
VARIATIONS AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT
  • Record all design changes, additional works, omissions and quantity variations.
  • Evaluate the cost impact of variations before work execution wherever possible.
  • Prepare variation statements and obtain necessary internal approvals.
  • Ensure additional works are properly measured, documented and billed.
  • Maintain revised budget and cost-to-complete reports after approved changes.
SITE AND PROJECT COORDINATION
  • Conduct periodic site visits to verify measurements, work progress, quality and billing claims.
  • Coordinate with site engineers to obtain daily or weekly quantity and progress information.
  • Verify material consumption and prepare material reconciliation statements.
  • Review drawings and clarify quantity-related issues with architects, structural consultants and MEP consultants.
  • Track civil, structural, finishing and MEP work packages.
  • Ensure timely billing without compromising accuracy or documentation.
  • Support project teams in value engineering and cost-saving decisions.
REPORTING AND DOCUMENTATION
  • Maintain project-wise BOQs, estimates, bills, quotations, work orders and cost reports.
  • Prepare weekly billing status and monthly cost-control reports.
  • Maintain contractor-wise and vendor-wise payment trackers.
  • Maintain budget revision and variation registers.
  • Prepare cash-flow projections based on planned project progress.
  • Ensure documents are organised and available for management review and audit.
  • Present clear cost summaries and project financial updates to management.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, estimation, billing or project cost control.
  • Experience working with a construction company, contractor, real-estate developer or project-management consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of civil, structural, finishing and basic MEP quantities.
  • Practical experience in preparing BOQs, rate analyses, contractor bills and cost reports.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, structural and service drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas, cost trackers and project reports.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD for drawing review and quantity measurement.
  • Knowledge of estimation or quantity take-off software such as PlanSwift, CostX or similar software will be an advantage.
  • Understanding of construction materials, specifications, contracts, work orders and billing procedures.
  • Knowledge of GST, retention, advances, recoveries and basic construction billing documentation is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites when required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

The candidate must be technically strong, commercially aware and highly organised. They should be able to independently take ownership of estimation, quantity verification, billing and cost-control activities.

The ideal candidate should be accurate with numbers, comfortable coordinating with site teams and contractors, and confident in reporting cost concerns directly to management. Integrity, documentation discipline and attention to detail are essential for this role.

WORKING PATTERN

Six-day working week with one weekly off as per company policy.

The position is based at the Jayanagar office in Bengaluru. The candidate must be willing to undertake planned site visits within Bengaluru and to Udupi or other project locations when required.

Compensation will be based on relevant experience, current CTC, technical knowledge and performance during the interview.
