Job summary

Bounteous is seeking a QA Engineer to join our engineering team focused on delivering high-quality software for education sector solutions. You’ll lead test planning, execution, and automation efforts across enterprise web applications, working within a collaborative, cross-functional agile team from feature inception to release.

The role emphasizes manual testing, test design, and building robust automation in CI/CD, with involvement in performance testing and defect management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on QA experience in web or mobile development environments.
• Strong skills in manual testing and designing comprehensive test coverage at multiple levels (feature, integration, end-to-end).
• Familiarity with BDD frameworks and test case writing using Gherkin syntax.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments with distributed teams.
• Understanding of general programming concepts (loops, source control, builds, etc.).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with global teams.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and releases concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand feature requirements and define robust test strategies
• Own the creation and maintenance of test plans, test cases, and test data for feature, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Identify edge cases and assess downstream impacts to proactively surface potential issues
• Perform manual testing of complex workflows and validate system behavior across varied scenarios
• Drive root cause analysis and defect management activities, ensuring clear documentation and communication of issues
• Work closely with the automation team to improve test coverage and help integrate automation into the CI/CD process
• Contribute to functional automation using tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, or JMeter
• Participate in performance and load testing activities to evaluate system responsiveness under stress
• Provide QA sign-off for maintenance, feature, and infrastructure releases
• Engage actively in all agile ceremonies and help shape team testing best practices
• Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and post-deployment verification
• Participate in QA process improvements and support QA environment configuration, test data setup, and deployment readiness
• Support after-hours or weekend releases as needed

You’ll be embedded within a collaborative, cross-functional agile team and play a pivotal role throughout the product lifecycle—from feature inception to release.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand feature requirements and define robust test strategies
• Own the creation and maintenance of test plans, test cases, and test data for feature, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Identify edge cases and assess downstream impacts to proactively surface potential issues
• Perform manual testing of complex workflows and validate system behavior across varied scenarios
• Drive root cause analysis and defect management activities, ensuring clear documentation and communication of issues

Automation & Performance Testing

• Work closely with the automation team to improve test coverage and help integrate automation into the CI/CD process

• Provide QA sign-off for maintenance, feature, and infrastructure releases

Process & Collaboration

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

• Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior QA resources
• Prior experience in higher education or SaaS platforms is a plus
• A passion for product quality and a continuous learning mindset
