Job summary

Sai Placement is seeking a Sr. Purchase Engineer to manage procurement for mechanical equipment in Pune. The role requires 6+ years of experience in Purchase/Procurement, and a BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering.

You will handle BOM-based material procurement, supplier negotiations, and ensure timely deliveries while coordinating with planning, QA, and production teams. Candidates should have strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with experience in industrial equipment

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 6+ years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement.
• Experience in engineering, pumps, manufacturing or industrial equipment preferred.
• Strong experience in raw material/component procurement, supplier negotiation, PO management and delivery follow-up.
• Good knowledge of BOM, supplier management, ISO practices and cost-saving initiatives.
• Strong coordination, negotiation, analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Procurement of raw materials and pump accessories as per BOM.
• Floating component enquiries, supplier negotiation and PO release.
• Reviewing Order Acknowledgements received from suppliers.
• Ensuring timely receipt of materials as per planning and target dates.
• Coordination with Planning, QA, Production and Stores for material availability, delivery and quality issues.
• Supplier coordination, follow-up and periodic supplier visits.
• Preparation of MIS reports and regular material availability updates.
• Implementation of ISO practices and handling internal audits and compliances.
• Updating rollover plans and critical/hyper-critical part lists with raw material availability status.
• Monitoring raw material prices and driving cost-saving initiatives.
• Coordination with QA, Production and suppliers for prototype parts and machining activities.
• Transport vendor coordination, agreement and commercial finalization.
• Supporting Tooling, Consumables and Maintenance departments whenever required.
• Maintaining effective supplier relationships and ensuring delivery, quality and commercial commitments.
