Job summary

DYNATHERM ALLOYS PRIVATE LIMITED in Chennai is seeking an experienced Procurement professional to manage end-to-end sourcing of engineering materials for heat exchangers, pressure vessels and reactors. You will interpret drawings, BOMs and specifications, ensuring quality and schedule adherence while meeting commercial targets.

The role involves supplier evaluation, development and governance, plus cost-saving initiatives and timely RFQ issuance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of purchasing experience in heat exchangers or vessels-based industries.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Procure engineering materials including pressure-vessel plates, pipes, tubes, forgings, flanges, fittings, gaskets, fasteners and welding consumables.
• Coordinate with Design, Projects, Production, Quality and Stores to resolve technical clarifications before purchase.
• Prepare and issue RFQs using approved technical specifications and commercial terms; conduct bid comparisons.

Job description

To manage end-to-end procurement of engineering materials, bought-out components, manufacturing consumables, and subcontracted services for the manufacture of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and reactors.

Ensure that all purchases meet approved technical specifications, quality requirements, project schedules, and commercial targets. The role requires the ability to understand engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), material specifications, inspection requirements, and applicable customer and statutory standards.

Responsibilities

A. Technical Procurement

• Procure pressure-vessel plates, pipes, tubes, forgings, flanges, fittings, gaskets, fasteners, welding consumables, and other engineering materials.
• Interpret approved drawings, BOMs, material requisitions, technical specifications, and customer purchase requirements.
• Verify material grade, dimensions, thickness, schedule, quantity, tolerances, and applicable material standards before releasing purchase orders.
• Ensure procurement is aligned with design documents, drawings, Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs).
• Coordinate with Design, Projects, Production, Quality, and Stores to resolve technical clarifications before purchase.

B. Supplier Development and Management

• Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers for carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, non-ferrous alloys, forgings, and engineering components.
• Maintain an approved supplier base aligned with DAPL's supplier qualification and governance requirements.
• Evaluate suppliers based on technical capability, quality performance, certifications, delivery reliability, cost competitiveness, and capacity.
• Conduct supplier assessments and coordinate technical evaluations with Quality and Engineering.
• Develop alternate sources for critical materials and long-lead items.
• Monitor supplier non-conformances, corrective actions, and repeat quality or delivery issues.

C. Commercial and Cost Management

• Prepare & issue RFQs using approved technical specifications and commercial terms.
• Conduct bid comparisons, ensuring that quotations are evaluated on a like-for-like basis.
• Analyse material price trends, wastage allowances, minimum order quantities, and lead times.
• Support project costing, budget control, cost-saving initiatives, and purchase variance analysis.
• Ensure POs have approved specification, qty, delivery schedule, inspection requirements

Qualifications

• Min 8+ years' of purchasing experience (heat exchangers, vessels based industry)
