Job summary

LEADING MINING & INFRASTRUCTURE COMPANY is seeking an experienced Head of Procurement to lead the procurement function for mining and infrastructure projects. You will drive strategic sourcing, vendor development, and contract negotiations to ensure timely material availability and cost optimization.

The role requires leadership, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with ERP and procurement software across multiple project locations.

Qualifications

• 1520 years of overall experience in procurement / purchase, preferably in mining, infrastructure, construction, or heavy engineering industries.
• Proven experience in a senior procurement leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of HEMM equipment, spare parts, maintenance materials, industrial consumables, and project procurement.
• Excellent negotiation, vendor development, commercial evaluation, and contract management skills.
• Experience in procurement planning, budgeting, inventory control, and cost optimization.
• Strong leadership, team management, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and procurement software.
• Ability to manage multiple project locations and time-critical material requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and company objectives.
• Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including requisitions, RFQs, tendering and purchase orders.
• Manage procurement of HEMM spares, mining equipment, diesel, lubricants, electrical items, and consumables.
• Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, warranty terms, and delivery schedules.
• Ensure timely availability of materials at mining sites and project locations.
• Establish vendor performance evaluation systems and maintain supplier network.
• Monitor procurement budgets, material costs, savings, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with project, operations, stores, finance, and accounts teams.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
• Review purchase orders, contracts, quotations, and terms before approval.
• Monitor inventory levels and avoid stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Handle supplier disputes, quality issues, delays, and escalations.
• Develop procurement MIS reports covering value, savings, and delivery status.
• Lead, guide, and develop the procurement team to improve efficiency.

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Head of Procurement / Purchase to lead the procurement function for our mining and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in strategic sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiation, cost control, and procurement of heavy earth-moving machinery (HEMM) spares, equipment, consumables, and project materials.

Role & responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and company objectives.

• Lead end-to-end procurement activities, including purchase requisitions, RFQs, tendering, comparative statements, purchase orders, and delivery follow-ups.
• Manage procurement of HEMM spares, mining equipment, diesel and lubricants, electrical items, mechanical components, construction materials, and general consumables.
• Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate competitive prices, payment terms, credit periods, warranty terms, and delivery schedules.
• Ensure timely availability of materials at mining sites and project locations without operational delays.
• Establish vendor performance evaluation systems and maintain a strong supplier network.
• Monitor procurement budgets, material costs, savings, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with project, operations, maintenance, stores, finance, and accounts teams to ensure smooth procurement operations.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, approval procedures, quality standards, and statutory requirements.
• Review purchase orders, contracts, quotations, and commercial terms before approval.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with stores to avoid stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Handle supplier disputes, quality issues, delayed deliveries, and payment-related escalations.
• Develop procurement MIS reports covering purchase value, savings, pending orders, supplier performance, and material delivery status.
• Lead, guide, and develop the procurement team to improve efficiency and accountability.
