Job summary

Punniamoorthi Pillai Department Store in Tamil Nadu seeks a procurement professional to identify and develop reliable suppliers and source products across grocery, FMCG and supermarket ranges. The role focuses on negotiating prices, terms and delivery, while ensuring stock availability and adherence to budgets.

You will coordinate with vendors and the store team to manage POs, deliveries and stock levels, plus monitor market prices and supplier performance for ongoing improvements.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate suppliers, distributors, wholesalers and manufacturers.
• Source products across grocery, FMCG, F&V and other supermarket items.
• Obtain and compare vendor quotations on price, quality, margins and payment terms.
• Negotiate purchase prices, schemes, discounts and delivery timelines with vendors.
• Monitor market prices and competitor pricing to ensure competitiveness.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders based on stock requirements and approved plans.
• Coordinate with vendors for timely delivery, pending orders, returns, replacements and credit notes.
• Monitor stock levels with store team, manage fast/slow-moving items, reorders and replenishments.
• Coordinate with warehouse for timely delivery, GRN, stock corrections and discrepancies.
• Ensure products meet PPDS standards on quality, quantity, expiry dates and batch details.
• Maintain vendor records, price lists, and purchase-related documents.
• Track vendor performance on price, quality, service and delivery.
• Ensure purchases stay within budgets and procurement policies.
• Support promotional and seasonal purchasing requirements.
• Prepare regular purchase and MIS reports.
• Ensure adequate availability of products without overstocking or expiry losses.

• Negotiate purchase prices, schemes, discounts, payment terms and other support with vendors.
• Monitor market prices and competitor pricing to ensure competitive buying.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) based on stock requirements and approved purchase plans.
• Coordinate and follow up with vendors for timely delivery, pending orders, vendor returns, replacements, credit notes, short supply, expired or incorrect products
• Monitor and coordinate with store team for stock levels, fast-moving/slow-moving items, reorder levels and replenishment requirements.
• Coordinate with the warehouse and store team for timely delivery, GRN, stock correction and other discrepancies.
• Ensure products meet PPDS standards on quality, quantity, MRP, expiry dates, batch details and other specifications.
• Maintain accurate vendor records, price lists, purchase orders, invoices and other purchase/ vendor related documents.
• Track vendor performance based on price, quality, service and delivery.
• Ensure purchases are within approved budgets and company procurement policies.
• Support promotional, seasonal, festival and other special-event purchasing requirements.
• Prepare regular purchase and MIS reports.
• Ensure adequate availability of products while avoiding overstocking and expiry losses.
