Job summary

SP Ultraflex Systems Ltd in Mumbai seeks a procurement professional with 3–5 years in heavy industrial machine manufacturing to manage vendors and drive cost improvements. You will handle RFQs, negotiations, supplier audits, and quality alignment to meet production targets.

You will liaise between engineering and suppliers, develop new vendors, and optimize processes to reduce lead times while maintaining quality and competitiveness.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of procurement experience in a heavy industrial machine manufacturing company.
  • Experience in ROQ/ROL implementation.
  • Experience in a machinery manufacturing unit.
  • Strong vendor analysis and vendor development.
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and surface coating from costing and negotiation perspective.
  • Strong negotiator capable of negotiating at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure material availability per design parameters and production target dates or reorder levels.
  • Manage domestic and import vendors for manufactured and bought-out parts.
  • Develop new vendors, negotiate rates, and renegotiate with existing vendors.
  • Work on process re-engineering to improve quality, aesthetics, lead times and costs.
  • Conduct vendor evaluations to identify and qualify based on quality, cost and reliability.
  • Draft and distribute RFQs outlining specifications and requirements.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers for advantageous terms.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure materials meet quality metrics.
  • Oversee the ordering process from requisition to delivery for timeliness and accuracy.
  • Maintain supplier relationships for long-term partnerships and cost savings.
  • Serve as the technical liaison between engineering and suppliers to clarify specs.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure material availability as per design parameters and production target dates / predefined reorder levels, as the case may be.
  • Manage domestic and import vendors for manufactured parts and bought-out parts.
  • Develop new vendors, negotiate rates for materials and processes with new vendors, and renegotiate rates with existing vendors.
  • Work on process re-engineering with the objective of improving quality and aesthetics while reducing lead times and costs.
  • Vendor Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify and qualify vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Request for Quotation (RFQ) Creation: Draft and distribute RFQs to potential vendors, outlining the specifications and requirements for the products needed.
  • Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous contract terms and conditions.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that purchased materials meet all necessary quality metrics.
  • Order Management: Oversee the entire ordering process, from initial requisition to final delivery, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain and nurture relationships with suppliers for long-term partnerships and potential cost savings.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between engineering departments and suppliers to clarify technical specifications and resolve issues.
Desired Profile:
  • Qualification: B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of procurement experience in a heavy industrial machine manufacturing company.
  • Experienced in ROQ/ROL implementation.
  • Sufficient experience in a machinery manufacturing unit.
  • Strong in vendor analysis and vendor development.
  • Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and surface coating processes from a costing and data-driven negotiation perspective.
  • Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
