Qualifications

• B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience in heavy industrial machinery.
• Willingness to travel 50% and hold a valid license (two/four-wheeler).

Responsibilities

• Ensure material availability per design parameters and production targets or re-order levels.
• Manage domestic and import vendors for manufactured and bought-out parts.
• Develop new vendors and negotiate rates; renegotiate with existing vendors.
• Work on process re-engineering to improve quality, reduce lead times and costs.
• Vendor evaluation: assess quality, cost and reliability.
• Draft and issue RFQs to suppliers with clear specs.
• Lead negotiations on contract terms.
• Collaborate with QA to ensure materials meet quality metrics.
• Oversee end-to-end ordering to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
• Maintain supplier relationships for long-term partnerships and savings.
• Liaise between engineering and suppliers to clarify specs or resolve issues.

Job Responsibilities:

• To ensure material availability as per the design parameters and production target dates/ pre- defined re- order levels, as the case may be.
• To manage domestic and import vendors for manufactured parts and bought out parts.
• To develop new vendors, to negotiate rates for materials and processes with new vendors and re-negotiate rates with existing vendors.
• To work on process re-engineering from the perspective of improving quality and aesthetics while reducing lead times and costs.
• Vendor Evaluation: Conduct assessments to identify and qualify vendors based on quality, cost, and reliability.
• Request for Quotation (RFQ) Creation: Draft and distribute RFQs to potential vendors, outlining the specifications and requirements for products needed.
• Negotiation: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous contract terms and conditions.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure the purchased materials meet all necessary quality metrics.
• Order Management: Oversee the entire ordering process, from initial requisition to final delivery, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Maintain and nurture relationships with suppliers for long-term partnership and potential cost savings.
• Technical Liaison: Serve as the point of contact between engineering departments and suppliers to clarify technical specifications or resolve issues.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

• B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent

Experience:

• Exp: 3 to 5yrs of Procurement in Heavy Industrial Machine Manufacturing Company

Residence:

• In Vicinity or Near Mira Road / Thane or in Western Line*

Exposure:

• Drawing Explanation, Vendor Development Management Negotiation Audit, Machining, Grinding, Fabrication, Chrome Plating, Powder Coating, etc.

Gender:

• Preferably – Male

Travel:

• 50% Role will be vendor visit. (Must have 2-wheeler / 4-wheeler License)

Other Skills:

• Experienced in ROQ/ROL implementation
• Full kit as per mfg. schedule
• To work with the ERP data for analysis and improvement of throughput.
• Sufficient experience in a machinery manufacturing unt.
• Strong at vendor analysis and vendor development.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and surface coating processes from the perspective of costing and data driven negotiation.
• Good database of vendors in and around Mumbai to source manufactured parts as per proprietary drawings.
• Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
