Job summary

Rama Pure Water in Chennai seeks a Purchase Executive to manage procurement for manufacturing operations. The role involves sourcing vendors for raw materials, issuing POs based on MRP, and negotiating terms to secure competitive pricing.

You will coordinate with Production Planning, Stores, and QC to align schedules and ensure timely deliveries. The ideal candidate has 3–6 years in manufacturing procurement, strong vendor relations, and familiarity with GST and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3–6 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/industrial setup.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/SAP MM module and other ERP systems.
  • Understanding of GST, Incoterms, and import/export documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors for raw materials, components, MRO items, and consumables.
  • Generate and release Purchase Orders based on production/MRP requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Obtain and compare quotations (RFQ process) to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base and conduct performance reviews.
  • Coordinate with PPC, Stores, and Quality to align purchase schedules with production needs.

Job Description: Purchase Executive Manufacturing


Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Department: Procurement
Experience: 36 years (manufacturing/industrial procurement preferred)


Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Procurement


  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors for raw materials, components, MRO (maintenance, repair, operations) items, and consumables

  • Generate and release Purchase Orders (PO) based on production/MRP requirements

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers

  • Obtain and compare quotations (RFQ process) to ensure competitive pricing


Vendor Management


  • Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base

  • Conduct vendor evaluation and performance reviews (quality, delivery, pricing)

  • Resolve quality/delivery disputes with suppliers in coordination with QC/Stores

  • Maintain vendor documentation (agreements, rate contracts, MSME/GST compliance)


Inventory & Coordination


  • Coordinate with Production Planning (PPC), Stores, and Quality teams to align purchase schedules with production needs

  • Monitor stock levels to avoid production stoppages or excess inventory

  • Track open POs and follow up on delayed deliveries

  • Support in setting reorder levels and safety stock for critical items


Documentation & Compliance


  • Maintain purchase records, rate contracts, and comparative statements

  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policy and statutory requirements (GST, e-way bill, etc.)

  • Coordinate with Accounts for GRN, invoice matching, and payment follow-up

  • Support internal/external audits with purchase documentation


Cost Control


  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate sourcing, bulk buying, or import substitution

  • Track and report purchase price variance (PPV)

  • Assist in annual budgeting for procurement spend


Required Skills & Competencies


  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills

  • Working knowledge of ERP/SAP (MM module), Tally, or similar systems

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, BOM, and material specifications

  • Familiarity with Incoterms, GST, and import/export documentation (preferred)

  • Ability to manage multiple vendors/timelines


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / B.Com / B.Sc, or Diploma in Materials Management

  • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Materials Management is an added advantage

  • 3–6 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/industrial setup (automotive, engineering, electronics, or process industry preferred)
