Job summary

VGN Projects Estates (VGN) in Chennai is seeking a procurement professional to manage construction material sourcing for multiple projects. You will coordinate with site teams, receive indents, obtain quotations, and prepare CS to ensure timely material delivery.

Responsibilities include negotiating terms, issuing POs, managing vendor performance, and liaising with accounts for payments. Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP software is preferred; GST invoicing knowledge is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction material procurement.
• Ability to prepare Comparative Statements (CS) and purchase orders.
• Knowledge of GST/invoice documentation is an advantage.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Procure construction materials such as cement, steel, sand, aggregates, bricks/blocks, tiles, plumbing, sanitary, electrical, hardware and waterproofing materials.
• Receive material indents/requisitions from project and site teams.
• Obtain quotations from multiple suppliers and prepare Comparative Statements (CS).
• Negotiate price, quality, payment terms and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) after required approvals.
• Coordinate with Site Engineers, Project Managers, Stores, QS, Accounts and Finance teams.
• Follow up with vendors and transporters to ensure timely delivery to project sites.
• Monitor pending POs, stock availability and material requirements.
• Check material quantity and specifications against approved requirements.
• Resolve issues related to shortages, rejected materials, quality discrepancies and delayed deliveries.
• Verify vendor invoices against POs and delivery documents and coordinate with Accounts for payment.
• Maintain vendor database, quotation records, POs, delivery records and procurement documentation.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly Purchase MIS and cost reports.
• Monitor market prices and identify opportunities for cost reduction and alternative materials.
