About the Role

Celestix Industries is looking for a proactive and cost-conscious Purchase Engineer to manage procurement and sourcing activities for wiring harness and electrical components. The role is responsible for identifying and developing suppliers, negotiating commercial terms, ensuring timely material availability, controlling procurement costs and coordinating closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering and Finance. The Purchase Engineer will play an important role in ensuring that the correct materials are available when required while maintaining quality, cost and supplier-performance expectations. Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Identify and evaluate suppliers for wires, connectors, terminals and other electrical components. Source materials based on production and engineering requirements. Develop appropriate sourcing strategies for required components. Evaluate supplier capability, commercial competitiveness and reliability. Maintain a strong supplier base to support manufacturing requirements.

Vendor Development & Supplier Management Identify, evaluate and onboard new suppliers based on quality and capacity requirements. Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships. Conduct supplier performance evaluations. Implement supplier-development initiatives where improvement is required. Maintain alternative sourcing options for critical materials where appropriate. Drive continuous improvement across the supplier base.

Commercial Negotiation Negotiate supplier pricing. Negotiate contracts and commercial terms. Negotiate payment terms. Support cost-effective purchasing decisions without compromising required quality or supply continuity. Maintain visibility of supplier pricing and commercial conditions.

Material Planning & Procurement Planning Work closely with Production and Planning teams to forecast material requirements. Translate production requirements into procurement plans. Ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules. Identify potential material shortages before they affect production. Coordinate procurement priorities based on production demand.

Inventory Control & JIT Monitor inventory levels for purchased materials. Support effective reorder systems. Support Just-in-Time (JIT) inventory practices. Balance material availability with inventory carrying costs. Coordinate with relevant teams to prevent excess inventory and shortages.

Cost Optimization Perform cost analysis across purchased materials. Identify alternative sourcing opportunities. Drive supplier-development and cost-reduction initiatives. Evaluate commercially viable alternatives where appropriate. Track procurement savings and cost-reduction achievements.

Procurement Budget Management Monitor procurement expenditure against applicable budgets. Track purchasing costs. Report cost-saving achievements. Support management visibility into procurement performance and cost trends.

Supplier Quality & Incoming Material Coordination Ensure purchased materials meet Celestix quality requirements and applicable certifications. Coordinate with the Quality team for incoming-material inspection. Follow up with suppliers on material-quality concerns. Coordinate resolution of non-conforming incoming materials. Drive structured corrective actions with suppliers where required. Support continuous improvement of supplier quality performance.

Technical Supplier Coordination Work with suppliers to ensure purchased components meet engineering specifications. Coordinate technical requirements between Engineering and suppliers. Clarify specifications and component requirements where needed. Support resolution of technical issues affecting purchased components.

Logistics & Delivery Monitoring Coordinate domestic and international material deliveries. Monitor supplier lead times. Track shipment status. Follow up on delayed materials. Identify delivery risks before they affect manufacturing. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to prevent production delays.

Purchase Documentation Maintain accurate purchase orders. Maintain supplier contracts and commercial documentation. Maintain supplier records. Ensure procurement documents are properly organised and updated. Maintain traceability of purchasing activities and supplier transactions.

Compliance Ensure purchasing activities comply with internal procurement policies. Support compliance with applicable industry requirements and company standards. Maintain procurement processes aligned with:ISO 9001:2015 IATF 16949:2016 Maintain documentation required for audits and compliance reviews.

Market & Supplier Research Stay informed about market trends affecting wiring harness and electrical components. Monitor new technologies and sourcing opportunities. Identify potential new suppliers, alternative materials and commercially beneficial sourcing options.

Cross-Functional Coordination Work closely with: Engineering Production Planning Quality Finance Supply Chain Coordinate material, technical, commercial and delivery requirements between suppliers and internal departments.
