Job summary

Vilas Transcore Limited, with a presence in Vadodara since 1996, seeks a Purchase Engineer to manage procurement for CRGO lamination materials and related components. You will coordinate with production and QC to ensure timely, cost-effective purchases and maintain supplier performance records.

The role requires 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or transformer-related industries and a diploma or BE/BTech in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.

Qualifications

• Procurement experience in manufacturing or transformer-related industries preferred.
• Ability to manage supplier relations and negotiate terms.
• Knowledge of CRGO materials and related procurement.
• Experience coordinating with PPC, Production, Stores, and QC.

Responsibilities

• Procure CRGO steel coils, sheets and other production materials as per specs.
• Coordinate with PPC, Production, Stores and QC to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
• Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production stoppages.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery with suppliers; maintain supplier records.
• Prepare purchase orders with complete specifications, quantities, rates, GST, delivery dates, and quality requirements.
• Follow up on requisitions, orders, and deliveries; manage documentation and compliance.

• Key Responsibilities
• Raw Material & Production Procurement
• Procure CRGO steel coils, sheets, and other production-related materials as per approved specifications and production requirements.
• Coordinate with the PPC, Production, Stores, and Quality Control departments to understand material requirements and delivery schedules.
• Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production stoppages.
• Follow up on purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and pending material deliveries.
• Coordinate procurement based on production plans, stock levels, and minimum stock requirements.
• Vendor Development & Management
• Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for CRGO materials, consumables, tools, and engineering items.
• Obtain quotations from multiple vendors and prepare comparative statements.
• Evaluate vendors based on price, quality, delivery, payment terms, and service.
• Maintain an updated vendor database and supplier performance records.
• Develop alternative vendors to reduce dependency and procurement risks.
• Cost Control & Negotiation
• Negotiate prices, discounts, credit periods, transportation charges, and delivery terms.
• Ensure procurement at competitive rates without compromising quality.
• Monitor market price movements for CRGO steel, electrical steel, and other relevant materials.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support annual procurement budgeting.
• Maintain purchase cost comparison and savings reports.
• Purchase Order & Documentation
• Prepare and release purchase orders after obtaining the required approvals.
• Ensure purchase orders include specifications, quantity, rates, GST, delivery schedule, payment terms, and quality requirements.
• Maintain records of quotations, comparative statements, purchase orders, delivery challans, invoices, and other procurement documents.
• Ensure compliance with the company's purchase policy and approval matrix.
• Supplier Follow-up & Material Coordination
• Follow up with suppliers for timely dispatch and delivery of materials.
• Coordinate with Stores and Quality Control for material receipt, inspection, and acceptance.
• Resolve issues relating to shortages, rejected materials, quality deviations, and delayed supplies.
• Coordinate with the Accounts Department for invoice verification, purchase rate discrepancies, and payment follow-up.
• Technical & Engineering Procurement
• Understand technical specifications, drawings, dimensions, grades, and quality requirements of CRGO-related materials.
• Procure cutting tools, machine spares, bearings, electrical items, lubricants, packing materials, PPE, and maintenance consumables as required.
• Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and QC teams before finalizing technically critical purchases.
• Ensure materials conform to approved specifications and applicable quality standards.
• MIS & Performance Reporting
• Prepare daily and weekly reports on pending purchase orders, material shortages, delayed deliveries, and critical requirements.
