THERMAX in Pune is seeking a Proposal Engineer for Retrofit & Revamp/Modernisation in the Enviro (Air Pollution Control) division. The role demands 5 years of experience in proposal development and a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical disciplines.

You will study customer requirements, design optimal technical solutions, prepare P&IDs, layouts, and cost estimates, and coordinate with multiple internal teams to deliver convincing proposals.

Qualificações

• BE/BTech in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical as stated.
• 5 years of experience in proposal engineering or related field.
• Experience with ESP/PJBF air pollution control systems is preferred.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Strong analytical and communication skills are required.

Responsabilidades

• Understand customer requirements and study enquiry details; prepare clear inputs and seek clarifications.
• Develop optimum solution proposal and submit within committed time; prepare schemes, P&IDs, layouts, and cost estimates.
• Address customer concerns and present technical solutions; demonstrate differentiators and USPs.
• Coordinate with Sales, Proposals, Engineering, Projects, Materials, Construction, QA, Logistics, Safety, and Services for inputs.
• Collaborate with E&I and Drafting teams; plan proposal work and in-process reviews.
• Estimate bought-out costs with sub-suppliers; review pricing and negotiate where needed.
• Post-order activities: project creation, ERP budgeting, ODS clarifications, and cost tracking.
• Ensure right-first-time proposal development and robust cost estimation.
• Develop reference data for sizing, weights, and bought-out costs.
• Continuously improve proposals with market feedback and learnings.

Roles & Responsibilities :

• Understanding requirements of customers – Studying the enquiry details, preparing pre-bid queries, seeking clarifications & necessary design inputs, site study visits
• Developing optimum solution Proposal & submission in committed time – Developing Scheme, Process Flow Diagram, P&ID, Sizing the Product & other equipment, GA, Equipment Layout, Ducting Layout, Power Distribution Scheme, Automation & Control Scheme, with review & optimization, Technical Proposal document preparation along with deviations/clarifications list in coordination with E&I Engineer and Drafting Engineer, Proposal work planning including the in-process self-review as well as review by Proposal Group Head.
• Satisfying customer concerns & building confidence – technical presentation and discussion with the customer and/or consultant, sorting out all queries, product & system solution positioning, achieving agreement with the customer and/or consultant on all technical aspects of our Proposal, establishing key differentiators/USPs/etc.
• Collaboration - Close coordination with our Sales team during the complete bidding process and also coordination with the other Proposals team members, Engineering, Projects, Materials, Construction, QA, Logistics, Safety, and Services team members to collect all necessary inputs for optimum solution development, weight & cost estimation. Weight optimization with support from the Engineering team. Providing timely inputs to our Construction team & obtaining an estimation of I&C costs.
• Bought-out’s Estimation - Floating RFQs and collecting backup quotations for bought-out items from approved sub-suppliers, referring to buying experience in the recent past, understanding fair pricing, negotiating with sub-suppliers, and preparing the best possible cost estimate.
• Post-Order: Project Creation, ODS Release, Conducting OTM, preparing WBS, Budget entry in ERP, resolving ODS clarifications, Review of Basic Engineering, supporting project execution team as & when necessary, collecting feedback on estimation v/s actual executed data of fabrication quantities, bought-out costs, logistics costs, construction costs, etc.
• Right First Time Proposal development & accurate cost estimation
• To develop a reference database for sizing, weight estimation & bought-out cost estimation
• Continual improvement and optimization by collecting feedback from executed projects, inputs from industry/market, etc.

Critical competencies:

• Knowledge of various designs of Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) / Pulse Jet Bag Filter (PJBF) based Air Pollution Control systems for several industrial applications.
• Knowledge & experience on R&R of ESP/PJBF based Air Pollution Control systems will be preferred.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process of Cement, Iron & Steel, various Boiler applications, Aluminium, Copper, Zinc, Glass Plants.
