About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and results-oriented Project Manager with specialized expertise in utility-scale solar projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project execution, from planning through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership capabilities, excellent vendor and OEM coordination skills, and a solid understanding of project accounts and costing. The Project Manager will also play a crucial role in building and developing teams for future solar projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Delivery
- Lead and manage the complete execution of utility-scale solar projects from mobilization to successful commissioning
- Develop comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and milestones ensuring alignment with project objectives
- Monitor project progress against established timelines and take corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery
- Oversee all phases of construction including civil works, electrical installations, module mounting, and grid integration
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines throughout project execution
- Drive project completion within approved budgets and timelines while maintaining quality benchmarks
Commissioning & Quality Assurance
- Plan and execute comprehensive commissioning activities for solar power plants
- Coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing of solar installations
- Ensure all systems including inverters, transformers, SCADA, and grid connectivity are properly tested and operational
- Oversee the preparation of commissioning reports, O&M manuals, and as-built documentation
- Facilitate successful handover to operations and maintenance teams
- Manage relationships with multiple vendors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution
- Coordinate with OEMs for timely delivery of solar modules, inverters, transformers, and other critical equipment
- Negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and ensure vendor compliance with project specifications and timelines
- Monitor vendor performance and implement corrective measures when necessary
- Facilitate technical discussions and problem resolution with OEMs and equipment suppliers
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing project teams including engineers, supervisors, and site personnel
- Define roles and responsibilities clearly and ensure effective team collaboration
- Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and align on priorities
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
- Develop team capabilities through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing
- Build scalable teams and organizational structures for future solar projects
Project Accounts & Cost Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost control
- Monitor project expenditures, track costs against budgets, and implement cost-saving measures
- Prepare and review financial reports, cost forecasts, and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate documentation of all project-related financial transactions
- Work closely with finance teams to manage cash flows, invoicing, and payment schedules
- Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality or timelines
Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities
- Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders
- Manage client expectations and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Coordinate with government agencies for permits, approvals, and grid connectivity clearances
Key Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field
- 5-8 years of proven experience in project management, specifically in utility-scale solar projects (10 MW and above)
- Demonstrated track record of successfully executing and commissioning multiple solar power plants
- Experience in managing projects worth significant capital investment
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of utility-scale solar power plant design, engineering, and construction
- In-depth knowledge of solar PV systems including modules, inverters, transformers, MV/HV systems, and SCADA
- Expertise in commissioning procedures, testing protocols, and performance validation
- Familiarity with grid codes, interconnection requirements, and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of Balance of System (BoS) components and civil/electrical construction practices

Certifications (Preferred)
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification
