Job description

Burns & McDonnell India has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to grow their career within an organization listed among the top 100 Great Places to work in India. The Global Facilities (GFS) business unit is responsible for engineering of facilities in North America, including food & consumer product facilities, manufacturing facilities, hyper‑scale datacenters, commercial facilities, and aviation facilities. This role joins the GFS Global Practice in Bengaluru and provides a full range of project management services on facility engineering projects.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
  • Arrange and attend interdepartmental meetings, client meetings, document meeting minutes, and take appropriate action as discussed.
  • Prepare and monitor department‑wise pending point lists on a weekly basis to control design inputs and overall project schedule.
  • Provide overall project management from concept to completion, including siting, planning, estimating, engineering, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, and closeout.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs using EcoSys.
  • Prepare and measure target progress and the actual project progress; monitor progress and take corrective action where required.
  • Assist with internal project financials, staffing, change management, and human‑resource issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all assigned project engineering activities.
  • Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services meet client satisfaction and internal QA/QC guidelines.
  • Report regularly on engineering progress, highlighting key parameters such as scope, schedule, and budget, and any issues that may impact performance.
  • Maintain records of change requests, raise change notices, prepare change proposals, and finalize change orders with the client.
  • Prepare project close‑out reports.
  • Support the project manager on multiple projects by coordinating with the remote client‑facing team in the U.S., from project handover through complete delivery according to contract terms.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts to grow the project management team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or institute.
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience, with at least three years in the consulting industry.
  • Proven track record of supporting large facility projects in a project engineer role from conceptual design through commissioning.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in developing project schedules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
