Overview

Burns & McDonnell India is looking for an experienced candidate to join our Global Facilities Group in Bengaluru office to lead and support electrical Engineering & design activities involved on Aerospace & Industrial, Data Center, Food & Beverages, Consumer life solution & Commercial projects mainly in USA. This position requires an experienced electrical engineer capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. This candidate will lead design, planning and client coordination activities associated with high, medium and low voltage electrical distribution and control systems found in Aerospace & Industrial, Data Center, Food & Beverages, Consumer life solution & Commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Position will require extensive interface with Burns & McDonnell project manager, other engineering disciplines, modelers, designers, and detailers locally in the Bengaluru office as well as remotely with Mumbai office & various international offices in the United States & United Kingdom.
• The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with a team to create world class design on a variety of projects from concept design through completion of construction. Project focus includes Aerospace & Industrial, Data Center, Food & Beverages, Consumer Life Solution & Commercial Projects mainly in USA.
• Designs electrical systems/equipment to provide a useful and safe environment for the electrical industry in accordance with the clients’ requirements for reliability and uptime.
• Advises clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their needs and comply with all applicable codes.
• Monitors installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with design documents.
• Conducts fault studies and load flow analysis. Develops design criteria for protective device coordination, relay applications, medium voltage transformers, switchgear, medium and low voltage distribution.
• Prepares detailed design calculations reports and reviews of detail drawings and layouts.
• Responsible for sizing electrical equipment, cable sizing, cable tray sizing and layouts.
• Develops and/or leads the design of electrical master plans for facilities encompassing reliable power distribution, motor control centers, energy efficient lighting systems, communications and telecom routing, instrumentation and controls for HVAC systems, fire alarm interface and building level uninterrupted power systems (UPS) and engine generators.
• Reviews electrical designs and specifications of equipment or systems being purchased or fabricated.
• Provides electrical design direction and resource management on multi-discipline projects.
• Develops concept studies, designs, and narratives.
• Participates in the identification, recruiting and management of resources to meet the needs of the business.
• Travels to offices within India and International offices as needed.
• Is flexible to work in projects in a supporting role and closely collaborates with project lead engineer to execute all assigned duties.
• Responsible for managing the assigned scope within agreed schedule, budget and complying with agreed project quality norms.
• Is a committed team player able to work on own initiative.

Qualifications

• Certifications / Skills:
• Possess knowledge of all applicable standards and codes.
• Experience with 2D Engineering tools like AutoCAD 2D.
• Experience with 3D engineering tools like Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, REVIT, etc. (additional advantage).
• Experience with lighting design software like AGI-32, Dialux or Visual.
• Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote.
• Knowledge or experience working with one of the power system design tools ETAP or SKM (additional advantage).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.
• Minimum Experience: 10 years of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
• Demonstrated abilities as a project discipline lead.
• Data centers, Food & Beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, or institutional facilities experience is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of critical facility design and infrastructure.
