Burns & McDonnell India is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer interested in growing their careers in an organization listed among the top 100 Great Places to work in India. The “Global Facilities” (GFS) business unit handles engineering of facilities in the North America region which includes food & beverage facilities, consumer product facilities, aerospace facilities, life sciences facilities, hyper‑scale data centers, commercial facilities, healthcare facilities and utility plants. The Mumbai office has a full complement of professionals with expertise in architecture, civil, electrical, control & automation, fire protection, mechanical, structural engineering, and project management and will support the Bangalore team to stand up in executing Future Projects. The successful candidate will report to the Bangalore GFS Operation Manager. He will be involved in developing design and specification of mechanical systems like HVAC, plumbing, hydronic systems (hot water, steam, and chilled water) on various projects including Hyper‑scale Data Centers, Food, consumer product, biotech, pharmaceutical, medical devices, Commercial, Aviation and industrial manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for design and specification of mechanical systems like HVAC, plumbing, hydronic systems (hot water, steam, and chilled water) for industrial facilities to provide for a useful and safe workplace.
- Capture client requirements and if needed, advise them regarding mechanical systems/requirements available to meet their needs and comply with safety codes.
- Review contractor shop drawings, field inspections, and testing and commissioning reports.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, client(s) and other stakeholder(s) to develop a clash‑free system design.
- Responsible for managing the assigned scope within agreed schedule and budget.
- Willing to advance in career by taking on increased responsibilities on projects and organization.

- Trane TRACE or any other load calculation program.
- Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD.
- Navisworks, AutoCAD, BlueBeam.
- Knowledge of AutoPipe, AutoCAD plant 3D will be an added advantage.
- Microsoft Office Tools – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Outlook, OneNote.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 8 years of working experience in HVAC and plumbing.
- Hands on experience on projects in North America region and knowledge of Revit will be a plus. Working knowledge of international codes and standards (ASHRAE, ISHRAE, SMACNA, NBC, BS/ EN codes, LEED building requirements, Mechanical Code, International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, International Fire Code, NFPA, etc.) applicable for Data Center and Commercial projects.
- Possess strong knowledge of chilled water, VRF system design, and technical submittal assessment.
- A committed team player able to work on own initiative.
- Strong analytical & problem‑solving skills.
- Good communication skills (verbal & written) and ability to self‑check and produce accurate work.
