Job summary

Rainbow HR Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical/MEP Project Lead to oversee end-to-end construction of large-scale data center facilities in Navi Mumbai. You will lead on-site MEP installation, manage cross-functional teams, ensure safety, quality, and compliance with design standards and local codes, while coordinating with design and project management to meet milestones.

Job description

End-to-end construction of Data Centers, responsible for all technical execution, project implementation, and completion of the designated project within pre-specified cost, design, quality and safety requirements. In charge of leading best practices for Project Construction, Quality, and safety with MEP standards for design and construction:

• Lead and support the development and implementation of global safety standards and a safe work culture at all projects.
• Development of best-in-class Data Centers in India. Serve as the on-site mechanical engineering representative throughout construction of a multi-year data center campus development.
• Support the Leader in identifying risks and developing a risk mitigation plan, also draw contingency /back-up plan by developing alternate strategies to achieve project milestones.
• Support in Implementation of the project as per the approved project plan and design standards.
• Support in all necessary regulatory & environmental clearances for projects.
• Manage the compliance of project execution activities.
• Ensure that a culture of safety is created within the business and that there are zero accidents
• Perform regular site walks to observe progress, review construction versus design intent, and flag potential concerns for engineering review.
• Facilitate and participate in a close working relationship with all site personnel – attending construction-based quality and assurance meetings, attending schedule and milestone review sessions, close monitoring of overall project management.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to be used at varying levels of business up to and including business executives.
• Work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.

• Approve MEP-related technical documents, compliance with project specifications and standards.

• Oversee the on-site installation of MEP systems, ensuring work aligns with project specifications and local codes.
• Coordinate subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of MEP works.
• Experience with the design and operation of air handlers, pumps, chillers, fans, and other mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct-Digital Control (DDC), and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
• Review construction drawings, specifications, design guides/standards, sequences of operation, and commissioning documents for technical compliance.
• Support submittal review, RFI responses, and commissioning activities. Facilitate timely response and enable seamless project execution.
• Lead the coordination of MEP systems on-site, addressing cross-disciplinary conflicts and technical challenges.
• Attend coordination meetings with project teams and ensure MEP works progress as per schedule.
• Review and verify construction plans and shop drawings for accuracy before installation.
• Ensure timely availability of materials and equipment for MEP installations.
• Provide technical guidance on site logistics, ensuring proper material storage and installation sequencing.
• Work with project management to assess and manage high-level technical risks, ensuring strategies are in place for resolution.
• Ensure the quality and consistency of MEP installations through regular inspections and adherence to design documents.
• Guide quality control procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
• Verify that all MEP installations comply with safety regulations and building codes, with a focus on health and safety.
• Oversee the procurement of MEP materials and services, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, and quality objectives.
• Resolve technical issues during the procurement phase and manage material lead times.
• Review material submittals and shop drawings from suppliers, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, BIM modelers, and subcontractors.
• Set performance goals for senior engineers and oversee subcontractor relationships to ensure high-quality, timely engineering deliverables.
• Provide on-site technical support to resolve challenges.
• Collaborate with project management to control MEP costs, identifying opportunities for savings while maintaining quality.
• Monitor performance against established budgets and initiate corrective actions as needed.

Testing, Commissioning, and Handover:

• Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams to ensure MEP systems meet performance criteria and ensure commissioning is completed adhering levels of commissioning stages.
• Manage the handover process, ensuring all documentation, warranties, and manuals are in place.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Expertise in interpreting engineering drawings, submittals, and specifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools, and project management software.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
