SNS Infracon is seeking an MEP Site Engineer to oversee electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire systems on construction sites. The role involves studying drawings and BOQ, coordinating with civil/architectural teams, and ensuring compliance with approved specifications.

You will lead daily site activities, maintain updated drawings, and ensure safety and quality across MEP works. The ideal candidate has a Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical, with hands-on experience in MEP site

Job description

Role & responsibilities

Study and understand the approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, tender conditions, and applicable codes/standards before commencement of work.
Ensure that all MEP works are executed strictly as per approved drawings, approved materials, specifications, and instructions of the Engineer-in-Charge/Consultant.
Coordinate MEP activities with Civil, Structural, Architectural and other services to avoid clashes and rework.
Ensure availability of approved drawings and latest revisions at the work front.
Maintain proper discipline, housekeeping and safety at the MEP work areas.
Plan daily and weekly MEP activities in coordination with the Project Manager/Site In-Charge.
Ensure adequate manpower, tools, equipment and materials are available for planned activities.

2. Electrical Works

The MEP Site Engineer shall:

Supervise installation of conduits, cable trays, trunking, wiring and cables.
Check installation of DBs, SMDBs, MDBs, panels, transformers, DG systems and associated equipment.
Supervise earthing and lightning protection systems.
Check installation of lighting fixtures, switches, sockets and power outlets.
Coordinate electrical provisions for HVAC, lifts, pumps, fire-fighting and other equipment.
Verify cable sizes, routes, termination and identification.
Ensure proper cable dressing, tagging and termination.
Carry out/coordinate insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance and other required tests.
Ensure electrical installations comply with approved drawings and applicable standards.

3. HVAC / Mechanical Works

Supervise installation of HVAC equipment, ducts, piping, insulation and accessories.
Check duct dimensions, supports, joints, insulation and air-tightness.
Verify installation of AHUs, FCUs, chillers, pumps, ventilation fans and related equipment.
Coordinate HVAC works with electrical, fire-fighting and architectural works.
Ensure proper pressure testing, flushing, balancing and commissioning.
Verify equipment installation against approved shop drawings and manufacturer recommendations.

4. Plumbing Works

Supervise installation of water supply, flushing water, soil, waste and rainwater systems.
Check pipe sizes, slopes, levels, supports and routing.
Ensure proper installation of valves, traps, cleanouts and other plumbing accessories.
Coordinate plumbing sleeves and openings with the civil team before concreting.
Conduct pressure testing and leakage tests.
Ensure proper connection of sanitary fixtures and equipment.
Verify underground and concealed plumbing works before closing/backfilling.

5. Fire-Fighting & Fire Alarm

Where included in the project scope:

Supervise fire-fighting piping, pumps, hydrants, sprinkler systems and valves.
Ensure installation as per approved fire-fighting drawings.
Coordinate fire alarm, detection and emergency systems.
Ensure pressure testing, flushing and functional testing.
Coordinate with the fire consultant/authority for inspections and compliance.
Maintain testing and commissioning records.

6. Material Control

The Engineer shall:

Ensure that only approved makes/materials are brought to site and installed.
Check material delivery against approved material submittals and purchase orders.
Coordinate inspection and approval of materials before installation.
Prevent unauthorized substitution of materials.
Maintain records of material consumption and balance stock.
Immediately report damaged, defective or non-conforming materials.

7. Quality Control

Conduct inspections at every important stage of MEP installation.
Raise inspection requests as required.
Ensure installation conforms to approved Shop Drawings, Method Statements and ITPs.
Identify defective/non-conforming work and arrange rectification.
Maintain inspection and testing records.
Ensure concealed works are inspected and approved before covering.
Coordinate testing with the QA/QC Engineer and Consultant.

8. Coordination & Clash Prevention

The MEP Site Engineer shall ensure coordination of:

MEP Civil Structural Architecture

Particular attention shall be given to:

Sleeves and openings
Shafts
False ceilings
Plant rooms
Equipment foundations
Ceiling services
Electrical rooms
Plumbing shafts
HVAC ducts
Fire-fighting services

No major MEP installation shall proceed where a drawing conflict or site obstruction exists without obtaining necessary clarification/approval.

9. Safety Responsibilities

Follow the project's approved HSE Plan and safety procedures.
Ensure workers use appropriate PPE.
Ensure safe working at height, in shafts, trenches and confined spaces.
Ensure electrical isolation/LOTO procedures where applicable.
Report unsafe conditions immediately.
Do not permit unsafe or unauthorized work.
Coordinate with the Safety Officer for toolbox talks and safety inspections.

10. Daily Site Reporting

The MEP Site Engineer should maintain:

Daily progress report
Manpower report
Material consumption report
Inspection requests
Testing reports
Site instructions
RFI/technical queries
Hindrance records
Measurement records
Equipment installation records
Updated drawings
As-built information

11. Testing & Commissioning

The Engineer shall ensure that all MEP systems are properly tested before commissioning, including:

Electrical testing
Earthing testing
Cable testing
HVAC testing and balancing
Plumbing pressure testing
Drainage testing
Fire-fighting pressure testing
Pump testing
Fire alarm testing
Functional testing of equipment

All test results shall be properly recorded and submitted for approval.

12. As-Built Drawings & Documentation

The Engineer shall continuously mark actual site installations and provide information for preparation of As-Built Drawings.

As-built information should include:

Actual cable routes
Pipe routes
Valve locations
Equipment locations
Duct routes
DB/panel locations
Inspection chambers
Underground services
Equipment details and identification

13. Coordination with Contractors/Subcontractors

Allocate work fronts to MEP subcontractors.
Monitor subcontractor performance.
Check manpower and productivity.
Ensure subcontractors follow approved drawings and specifications.
Coordinate daily work activities.
Verify completed quantities before certification/recommendation for payment.
Record delays and hindrances attributable to different agencies.

14. Measurement & Billing

The MEP Site Engineer shall assist in:

Recording actual executed quantities.
Preparing measurement sheets.
Checking subcontractor bills.
Verifying quantities against BOQ.
Identifying extra/deviation items.
Maintaining records for variations and additional works.
Providing supporting measurements and photographs.

15. Change Management

No additional or modified MEP work should be executed merely on verbal instructions where formal approval is required.

The Engineer shall:

Obtain clarification through RFI/site instruction.
Record changes.
Identify cost/time implications.
Obtain necessary approval before execution wherever practicable.
Maintain proper supporting documentation.

16. Handover Responsibilities

Before handing over the building, the Engineer shall ensure:

All MEP systems are complete.
Testing and commissioning are completed.
Defects/snags are rectified.
Equipment is properly labelled.
O&M manuals are available.
Warranty certificates are collected.
Test certificates are compiled.
As-built drawings are completed.
Training is provided to the client's operation/maintenance team.
Final handover documentation is submitted.

Preferred candidate profile

We are looking for a technically competent and experienced MEP Site Engineer having hands-on experience in the execution, supervision, coordination, inspection, testing and commissioning of MEP services for building construction projects.

The ideal candidate should possess a Diploma/B.E./B.Tech qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline, with preferably 580 years of relevant site experience.

The candidate should have sound practical knowledge of Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting and ELV systems, along with the ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, coordinate with Civil/Structural/Architectural teams, supervise subcontractors and ensure execution in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, quality requirements and project schedules.

Key requirements:

Strong hands-on experience in MEP site execution.
Ability to read and understand GFC/shop drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Fighting systems.
Experience in material inspection, quality control and testing.
Experience in testing, commissioning and handover of MEP systems.
Ability to coordinate with consultants, clients, civil teams and subcontractors.
Good knowledge of BOQ, measurements, extra/deviation works and billing support.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel and MS Office.
Knowledge of applicable Indian Standards/NBC and relevant MEP codes.
Good communication, reporting and documentation skills.
Ability to independently manage day-to-day MEP activities at site.
Strong commitment towards quality, safety, productivity and timely completion.
