India bears 40% of the global burden of 120 million population affected with the LF. This disease is endemic to 148 districts spread across 14 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujrat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal of the country. Despite a proven strategy, elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis in India continues to be a distant goal as efforts are largely focused on improving service delivery without any significant focus on demand generation.
