Job description

Role Summary

Coordinates day-to-day production scheduling across the made-ups value chain (cutting stitching finishing packing) to meet order commitments on time, in full, while keeping WIP, fabric consumption, and machine utilization within plan.

Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
  • Convert confirmed sales orders / merchandising forecasts into a daily/weekly production schedule per line and per plant.
  • Sequence orders by delivery priority, fabric/trim availability, and machine changeover time.
  • Coordinate with the cutting department on fabric lay planning to minimize wastage and match cut ratios to order size-breakdowns.
Material Coordination
  • Track raw material and trim availability (fabric, thread, labels, packaging) against the production plan; flag shortages to procurement with adequate lead time.
  • Coordinate with stores/warehouse on batch allocation and issue sequencing (FIFO/aging where relevant for dyed/printed fabric lots).
  • Monitor stock transfers between units/plants feeding a shared order.
Execution & Monitoring
  • Track daily production output vs. plan by line/operation; escape bottlenecks (machine breakdown, absenteeism, rework).
  • Maintain WIP visibility across cutting, stitching, embroidery/printing (if applicable), and finishing stages.
  • Coordinate with Quality to ensure in-line and end-line inspection doesn't stall downstream stages unnecessarily.
Cross-functional Coordination
  • Liaise with merchandising/sales on order changes, part-shipments, and revised delivery dates.
  • Work with the industrial engineering/costing team on capacity and efficiency data (SAM, line balancing).
  • Coordinate with dispatch/logistics on packing completion dates to align with shipment schedules.
Reporting
  • Prepare daily/weekly production status reports, WIP aging, and order-wise completion percentage.
  • Maintain and report on-time-delivery (OTD) performance and reasons for delays.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Diploma/Degree in Textile Technology, Apparel Production, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 to 5 years in production planning within a made-ups/home textiles or garment manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of an ERP system for production orders, material issues, and stock movements SAP PP/MM experience is a strong plus, given the batch-tracking, stock-transfer, and order-linked consumption logic typical in this environment.
  • Strong Excel skills; comfort reading production/MIS reports.
  • Ability to coordinate across cutting, stitching, finishing, quality, and stores simultaneously under deadline pressure.
