Job summary

Unique Sun Power in Surat, Gujarat seeks a Production Manager (BESS/ESS) to lead planning, execution, and quality assurance for lithium-ion battery systems. You will oversee assembly, testing, and safety compliance while coordinating with engineering for specs and BOMs.

The role requires strong leadership, lean manufacturing expertise, and hands-on experience with BESS components, ERP, and production reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in BESS manufacturing and battery pack assembly.
• Strong knowledge of BMS, PCS, and EMS integration.
• Proven ability to plan, schedule, and monitor production.
• Experience leading engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Familiar with lean manufacturing, 5S, CAPA.
• Excellent problem solving and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities.
• Manage BESS manufacturing, battery pack assembly, and system integration.
• Ensure production targets are achieved within timelines.
• Optimize manpower, machinery, materials, and resources.
• Supervise battery module/pack assembly and system integration.
• Coordinate with engineering for drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
• Monitor QC, testing, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Lead production team and maintain discipline on the floor.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

• Plan, schedule, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities.
• Manage BESS manufacturing, battery pack assembly, and energy storage system integration.
• Ensure production targets are achieved within defined timelines.
• Optimize manpower, machinery, materials, and production resources.

2. BESS Manufacturing & Assembly

• Supervise lithium-ion battery module and pack assembly, where applicable.
• Oversee integration of battery racks, Battery Management Systems (BMS), Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
• Ensure proper installation and integration of electrical components, wiring, and cooling systems.
• Coordinate with engineering teams for manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.

3. Quality Control & Testing

• Ensure compliance with approved quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
• Monitor incoming material inspection, in-process quality checks, and final product testing.
• Coordinate functional testing, electrical safety checks, and performance validation.
• Investigate production defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.

4. Manpower & Team Management

• Lead production engineers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
• Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
• Train employees on production processes, equipment handling, and safety procedures.
• Maintain discipline and productivity on the production floor.

5. Inventory & Material Management

• Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Quality, and Planning departments.
• Ensure timely availability of battery cells, modules, electrical components, and other materials.
• Minimize material wastage, rework, and production downtime.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Implement workplace safety procedures for lithium-ion battery handling and assembly.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety, fire protection, EHS, and battery storage requirements.
• Maintain production records, inspection reports, and process documentation.

7. Continuous Improvement

• Monitor production KPIs, including output, rejection rate, productivity, and equipment utilization.
• Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement initiatives.
