Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Bengaluru seeks a Head of BESS Manufacturing to lead end-to-end production of Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring quality, safety and on-time delivery.

You will drive capacity planning, cost optimization and lean initiatives while guiding cross-functional teams and aligning with R&D and supply chain for new product introductions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• 12–18+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
• Experience with batteries, EVs, or energy systems.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for BESS.
• Develop production strategies to meet capacity, cost, and delivery targets.

Job description

The Head of BESS Manufacturing will lead end-to-end manufacturing operations for Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring efficient production, high quality, cost optimization, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. This role is critical in scaling operations and supporting the company’s growth in the energy storage sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all manufacturing operations for BESS, including assembly, integration, testing, and dispatch
• Develop and implement production strategies to meet capacity, cost, and delivery targets
• Ensure strict compliance with quality standards, safety norms, and regulatory requirements
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, automation)
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and R&D for product optimization and new product introduction (NPI)
• Oversee plant performance metrics (OEE, yield, cycle time, downtime)
• Manage vendor development and localization initiatives
• Build and lead high-performing manufacturing teams

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering field
• 12-18+ years of experience in manufacturing, with strong exposure to batteries, EVs, or energy systems
• Proven leadership experience in managing large-scale manufacturing facilities
• Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, BESS integration, and safety standards
• Experience in process optimization, automation, and cost reduction
• Familiarity with global quality and safety standards (ISO, IEC, etc.)
