Job summary

Southern Electronics (bangalore) is seeking a Production Planning and Scheduling professional to develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders, delivery schedules, and material availability. You will monitor the master schedule, adjust plans to meet dispatch timelines, ensure materials are available before starting production, and escalate shortages to Procurement.

• Identify bottlenecks, equipment issues, or workflow inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
• Make real-time decisions on resource allocation, shift adjustments, and priority changes to maintain on-time delivery.
• Analyze production data to recommend process improvements, waste minimization, and cost reductions.
• Resolve non-conformities with QA/QC to drive root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Control production targets and ensure on-time delivery for all models and lines.
• Track daily output and submit shift production summaries to management.
• Coordinate with dispatch and logistics to ensure finished goods are inspected, packed, and shipped as scheduled.
• Maintain communication with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to align priorities.

Production Planning and Scheduling

• Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on customer orders, delivery schedules, and material availability.
• Establish capacity plans considering equipment efficiency, manpower, and product mix to meet dispatch timelines.
• Monitor production progress against the master schedule and proactively adjust schedules to mitigate delays or resource constraints.
• Ensure materials and components are available before initiating production; escalat material shortages promptly to Procurement/Stores.

Decision-Making and Problem-Solving

• Identify production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, or workflow inefficiencies and implement corrective actions swiftly.
• Make real-time decisions on resource allocation, shift adjustments, and priority changes to maintain on-time delivery.
• Analyze production performance data to recommend process improvements, cost reductions, and waste minimization strategies.
• Resolve non-conformities and quality issues in coordination with QA/QC teams; drive root cause analysis and preventive actions.

On-Time Delivery and Output Management

• Ensure production targets and delivery timelines are consistently met for all models and product lines.
• Track daily output against planned targets; prepare and submit shift production summaries and performance reports to management.
• Coordinate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure finished goods are inspected, packed, and shipped as per schedule.
• Maintain open communication with Sales, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to align production priorities with customer expectations.

Manpower and Resource Management

• Plan and allocate manpower effectively across shifts; monitor attendance, productivity, and cross-training requirements.
• Supervise line supervisors, operators, and assembly teams; provide job expectations, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Ensure all equipment, tools, and resources are used efficiently and maintained according to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Foster a cooperative work environment and maintain healthy working relationships among staff members.

Quality and Compliance

• Monitor product quality at each production stage; inspect products prior to shipment to ensure compliance with specifications and labeling requirements.
• Enforce safety procedures and SOPs; ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and customer-specific manufacturing standards.
• Track and reduce rejection rates through quality improvements and operator training

Cost Control and Continuous Improvement

• Control manufacturing costs within budgetary limits; identify opportunities for cost reduction in labor, materials, and consumables.
• Lead or support continuous improvement projects targeting throughput increases, waste reduction, and OEE improvements.
• Evaluate each station of the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiency and recommend improvements to methods, equipment, and procedures.
