Job summary

Texmaco Nymwag Rail & Components Private Limited is seeking a Production Manager to supervise the end-to-end manufacturing process in the freight car/rolling stock sector.

You will oversee manpower, machinery, materials, and budgets, ensuring on-time delivery, quality standards, and strict safety compliance while coordinating with engineering, purchasing and sales teams to meet company goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or production engineering.
  • 3–15 years of experience in production management in freight car/rolling stock manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of quality control and safety regulations in rail/heavy fabrication industries.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all aspects of the production process to ensure timely, cost-effective output.
  • Manage resources including manpower, machinery, materials, and finances.
  • Monitor progress to keep production on schedule and adjust as needed.
  • Ensure production meets company quality standards through inspections and tests.
  • Enforce safety policies to protect workers and the environment.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods to avoid shortages.
  • Control production costs, including labour, materials and equipment costs.
  • Manage the production team, hiring, training, and performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing and sales to align with company goals.
  • Continuously identify improvements to reduce costs and boost efficiency.

Job description

Purpose of the Role:

Execute all aspects of the production process to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely production of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for ensuring production as per plan.
  • Responsible for managing the resources required for a production such as manpower, machinery, materials, and finances.
  • Monitor the production progress to ensure that production is on schedule and to make any necessary adjustments to ensure the completion of the project timely.
  • Ensure that the production process meets the quality standards set by the company. This involves conducting regular inspections and tests to ensure that the products meet the required standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the production processes are safe for the workers and the environment. They must enforce safety policies and procedures to minimize accidents and injuries in the workplace.
  • Responsible for Manage the inventory levels of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods to ensure that the production process is not interrupted by a shortage of materials.
  • Managing the production costs to ensure that production is cost-effective and profitable for the company. This includes managing labour costs, materials costs, and equipment costs.
  • Responsible for managing the production team, including the hiring and training of new employees, and the performance appraisal of existing employees.
  • Work closely with other departments such as engineering, purchasing, and sales to ensure that the production process is in line with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve the production process, reduce costs, and increase efficiency and productivity.
Competencies and Experience:
  • TechnicalKnowledge of wagon engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in executing large-scale production projects.
  • Understanding of quality control and safety regulations in rail industry / heavy fabrication industries.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
