Job summary

CRA, a specialist engineering company, seeks a Production Engineer to lead and optimize manufacturing operations in the energy and defence sectors. You will oversee production planning, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery while coordinating machining, welding and fabrication teams to maximise throughput.

The role requires strong knowledge of 2D/3D CAD drawings, fabrication, welding and sheet-metal processes, plus proven leadership in implementing Lean, 5S and Kaizen to drive

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 4+ years of production engineering experience in fabrication/machining.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining and sheet-metal.
  • Experience interpreting 2D/3D CAD drawings and calculations.
  • Proven track record in 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and process improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills (MIS, production dashboards, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Execution: Lead production planning, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery.
  • Oversee issuance of parts, materials, and tools as per production requirements.
  • Coordinate across machining, welding, and fabrication teams to optimize workflows.
  • Process Development & Optimization: Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and process flows.
  • Ensure tolerancing and dimensioning are accurately implemented on the shop floor.
  • Identify critical processes and design jigs/fixtures to improve efficiency.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, cost optimization).
  • Quality & Compliance: Collaborate with Quality Engineers to define in-process quality standards and checks.
  • Ensure proper traceability of materials, semi-finished, and finished goods.
  • Support documentation including PDI, packing lists, process sheets, and MIS reports.
  • Technical Expertise: Interpret complex 2D/3D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering calculations.
  • Apply knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding methodologies, and machining processes.
  • Guide teams on correct welding techniques, fabrication methods, and machining practices.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and manage shop-floor manpower to achieve production goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering, production, and quality teams.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivatedProduction Engineer to lead and optimize our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in machining, fabrication, welding, and sheet-metal processes, combined with proven leadership in production planning, process improvement, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

Lead production planning, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure timely delivery.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining, and sheet-metal manufacturing techniques.
  • Skilled in interpreting 2D/3D CAD drawings and conducting engineering calculations.
  • Proven track record in implementing 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and process improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, and team management skills.
