• BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4–8 years in structural steel fabrication / heavy fabrication.
• Experience with PEB, industrial steel projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain production schedules for fabrication, painting, dispatch and erection-related priorities.
• Coordinate daily/weekly planning with shop-floor production teams per project sequence.
• Track fabrication progress against planned targets and elevate delays promptly.
• Monitor material availability with procurement, stores and nesting/raw material planning teams.
• Coordinate with design/detailing teams for timely release of shop drawings.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for stage inspections and material movement.
• Coordinate with dispatch and site teams to align dispatch with erection priorities.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management review.
• Support planning of manpower, machines, consumables, and workflow for optimum utilization.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Planning Engineer for our Tarapur facility who can take ownership of

production planning and inter-departmental coordination across fabrication, painting,

dispatch, and site-linked priorities. The role requires a strong understanding of structural steel

fabrication, shop drawings, material flow, production sequencing, quality checkpoints, and

dispatch planning.

The ideal candidate should be hands-on, disciplined, and capable of coordinating closely with

production, design/detailing, procurement, QA/QC, stores, and site teams to ensure timely

and efficient execution. This is an execution-heavy role and is best suited to someone who

understands both planning on paper and the realities of shop-floor fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain production schedules for fabrication, painting, dispatch, and erection-related priorities.
• Coordinate daily and weekly planning with shop-floor production teams in line with project sequence and delivery commitments.
• Track fabrication progress against planned targets and elevate delays, bottlenecks, and slippages in a timely manner.
• Monitor material availability in coordination with procurement, stores, and nesting/raw material planning teams.
• Coordinate with design and detailing teams for timely release of approved shop drawings and clarification of fabrication priorities.
• Coordinate with QA/QC for stage inspection clearance and movement of material to subsequent processes.
• Coordinate with dispatch and site teams to align dispatch sequence with erection priorities and site readiness.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management review.
• Support planning of manpower, machines, consumables, and workflow for optimum utilization and timely delivery.
• Ensure planning discipline, follow-up, and cross-functional closure across departments.

Required Technical Understanding

Desired Candidate Profile

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 4 to 8 years of relevant experience in structural steel fabrication / heavy fabrication / industrial manufacturing
• Experience in heavy structures, PEB, industrial steel, equipment fabrication, power, cement, refinery, or infrastructure projects preferred
• Strong drawing-reading ability and practical understanding of fabrication processes
• Good command over planning tools such as Excel, ERP/SAP, MS Project, or equivalent tracking systems
• Strong coordination, follow-up, and reporting skills
• Able to work with ownership, urgency, and accountability in a plant environment
• Candidates willing to relocate to Tarapur will be preferred
