Job summary

Watertec in Tamil Nadu invites an experienced Production Manager to lead and optimize injection moulding production, ensuring targets for output, quality and delivery are met. You will plan daily and monthly production, oversee machine utilisation, and coordinate with maintenance, tooling and quality teams to keep equipment available and processes running smoothly.

The role requires hands-on leadership of supervisors, engineers and technicians across shifts, driving Lean initiatives such as 5S

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage injection moulding production operations to meet targets for production, quality and delivery.
• Plan daily and monthly production based on customer requirements and priorities.
• Ensure optimal utilisation of machines, manpower, moulds, materials, and other resources.
• Monitor production output, cycle time, machine utilisation, rejection, scrap, and OEE.
• Review production performance and implement corrective actions to hit targets.
• Coordinate machine changeover, mould change, setup, start-up and shutdown activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Management

• Lead and manage overall injection moulding production operations to achieve production, quality, and delivery targets.
• Plan daily and monthly production based on customer requirements and business priorities.
• Ensure optimum utilisation of machines, manpower, moulds, materials, and other resources.
• Monitor production output, cycle time, machine utilisation, rejection, scrap, and OEE.
• Review production performance and take corrective actions to achieve targets.
• Ensure effective machine changeover, mould change, setup, start-up, and shutdown activities.

2. Team Leadership & Manpower Management

• Lead and supervise Production Supervisors, Engineers, Operators, and Technicians.
• Plan manpower deployment across shifts and ensure optimum workforce utilisation.
• Set performance expectations, monitor team performance, and develop team capabilities.
• Conduct regular production reviews and ensure effective communication across shifts.
• Build a culture of accountability, discipline, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

3. Quality Management

• Ensure production processes consistently meet quality standards and customer specifications.
• Work closely with Quality, Process Engineering, and Tool Room teams to identify and eliminate recurring defects.
• Monitor rejection, rework, customer complaints, and process deviations.
• Ensure effective implementation of process controls, SOPs, and quality standards.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for quality issues.

4. Machine, Mould & Maintenance Coordination

• Coordinate with Maintenance and Tool Room teams to ensure maximum machine and mould availability.
• Monitor machine breakdowns, downtime, preventive maintenance, and equipment performance.
• Ensure proper condition and availability of moulds, auxiliary equipment, and production tools.
• Support troubleshooting of injection moulding machines and process‑related issues.
• Drive actions to reduce breakdowns and improve machine uptime.

5. Productivity & Cost Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce rejection, scrap, material consumption, and production losses.
• Monitor manufacturing costs and implement measures to improve cost efficiency.
• Drive improvement in OEE, cycle time, machine utilisation, and overall production efficiency.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead projects to improve process capability and reduce operational losses.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to company safety policies and statutory requirements.
• Ensure safe operation of injection moulding machines, moulds, material handling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
• Review safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace discipline.

7. Cross‑Functional Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Tool Room, Engineering, and HR teams for smooth production operations.
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly production performance against targets.
• Prepare and present production MIS, OEE, downtime, rejection, productivity, and other performance reports to management.
• Escalate critical production, manpower, quality or maintenance issues with suitable action plans.
• Support new product development, process trials, machine installation, and production scale‑up activities.
