Job summary

Bajaj Auto is seeking an EV Product Excellence Engineer to own the quality and reliability of EV controllers from development through field operation. You will design electronics systems, lead root-cause analyses, and drive CAPA across Design, Validation, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams.

The role requires a strong DFSS background, experience with automotive validation methods, and excellent documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Essential engineering degree in electrical/electronics with minimum 70% at all levels.
• Prefers M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics; strong DFSS understanding is required.
• Experience in end-to-end product development and DFMEA awareness.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end product quality and reliability of EV controllers from development to field.
• Design electronics systems including MCC, DCDC, BMS, Charger, VCU etc.
• Lead root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, RCA methods.
• Analyze field/warranty data to identify trends and reliability concerns.
• Drive CAPA with Design, Validation, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality.
• Prepare design docs, schematics, PCB layouts and test plans.
• Coordinate with multiple teams to contain issues and close actions.
• Support audits related to design quality and process compliance.
• Present status to management and ensure timely closure of quality issues.

Job Role & Responsibilities

Role: EV Product Excellence Engineer

Technical/ Functional:

• Own end-to-end product quality and reliability performance of EV controllers from development through field operation.
• Design and develop electronics systems including Motor control unit, DCDC converters, BMS, Charger, Vehicle control unit etc.
• Proven experience in end-to-end product development, from initial requirements to production, with a deep understanding of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies.
• Create detailed design documentation, schematics, and PCB layouts.
• Experience developing hardware design that meets EMI/EMC requirements, well versed with or ability to interpret various industry standards.
• Ability to analyse schematics, PCB layouts, component failures, and perform circuit-level debugging using lab equipment.
• Lead end-to-end failure analysis of EV controllers and drive root cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, FTA, Fishbone, and RCA.
• Analyze field, warranty, manufacturing, and vehicle log data to identify trends, recurring issues, and reliability concerns.
• Drive and track implementation of robust corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in collaboration with Design, Validation, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality teams.
• Own product quality and reliability performance, present technical status to management, drive review meetings, and ensure timely closure of quality issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Design, Validation, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Service, and suppliers to drive issue containment, root cause identification, corrective actions, and closure.
• Support audits and assessments related to design quality, product reliability, and process compliance.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, data analysis, reporting, and quality management tools.

• Strong understanding of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) methodology.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
