Job summary

Crescon Projects in Chennai invites an experienced Procurement Engineer – MEP to manage end-to-end procurement of mechanical, electrical and HVAC materials for EPC/MEP projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality and timely delivery.

The role includes developing procurement plans, evaluating vendors, issuing RFQs, preparing comparative statements, and coordinating with engineering and site teams to ensure materials meet specifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in MEP / EPC / Construction procurement.
• Industrial, data centre, warehouse, commercial or infrastructure project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC procurement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement plans based on project requirements, BOQ and project schedules.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable MEP vendors, manufacturers and subcontractors.
• Float RFQs and obtain competitive quotations from approved and potential suppliers.
• Prepare Comparative Statements (CS) and coordinate technical and commercial evaluations.
• Ensure procurement is aligned with project specifications, approved makes and required quantities.
• Handle procurement for materials/equipment such as Mechanical / HVAC components.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Projects, QS, Stores and Site teams.
• Monitor order status from PO placement through manufacturing and delivery.
• Expedite and coordinate delivery and inspection as required.

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer – MEP to manage end-to-end procurement of Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC materials, equipment and subcontract packages for EPC/MEP projects, ensuring optimum cost, quality and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

• Develop and execute procurement plans based on project requirements, BOQ and project schedules.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable MEP vendors, manufacturers and subcontractors.
• Float RFQs and obtain competitive quotations from approved and potential suppliers.
• Prepare Comparative Statements (CS) and coordinate technical and commercial evaluations.
• Ensure procurement is aligned with project specifications, approved makes and required quantities.

MEP Material Procurement

Handle procurement for materials/equipment such as:

Mechanical / HVAC

• Chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV
• Pumps, cooling towers and ventilation systems
• Ducting, insulation, pipes, valves and fittings

Electrical

• HT/LT panels
• Transformers
• DG sets
• Cables and cable trays
• Bus ducts
• Switchgear, MCCs, DBs and electrical accessories

MEP General

• Plumbing materials
• Fire-fighting materials
• ELV materials, where applicable
• MEP subcontract packages

Vendor Management & Negotiation

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct commercial negotiations for price, payment terms, delivery, warranty and other commercial conditions.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative vendors/materials.
• Evaluate vendor capability, quality, lead time and past performance.

Purchase Order Management

• Prepare and release Purchase Orders / Work Orders after obtaining necessary approvals.
• Ensure POs include correct specifications, quantities, delivery schedules and commercial terms.
• Monitor order status from PO placement through manufacturing and delivery.
• Maintain procurement trackers and documentation.

Expediting & Delivery

• Follow up with vendors for timely manufacturing and dispatch.
• Monitor critical material delivery against project milestones.
• Coordinate inspection, testing, dispatch and transportation where required.
• Escalate delays and take corrective action to avoid project impact.

Coordination

• Coordinate with Engineering, Planning, Projects, QS, Stores and Site teams.
• Review BOQs, specifications, drawings and material requirements before procurement.
• Coordinate technical clarifications between vendors and engineering teams.
• Ensure materials delivered to site meet approved specifications and requirements.

• Strong exposure to Electrical, Mechanical and HVAC procurement.
• Experience in handling multiple vendors and project procurement simultaneously
