Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Bengaluru seeks a Principal Engineer to shape safety-critical avionics software for next-generation aerospace platforms. You will design, develop, and validate embedded software across the SDLC, ensuring compliance with DO-178 and ARP4754A while coordinating with Systems, V&V, Certification, and Program Management teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive software verification strategies, and help raise the technical bar through ongoing process improvements within a hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related STEM discipline.
• 12+ years of embedded software development experience, preferably in aerospace or safety-critical industries.
• 8+ Years of strong knowledge of aerospace software certification standards: DO-178 and ARP4754A.
• 6+ Years of solid understanding of avionics communication protocols: ARINC 429, AFDX, ARINC 653, ARINC 615A.
• 8+ Years of strong expertise in software lifecycle processes, requirements engineering, and verification methodologies.
• 7+ Years of experience deriving software requirements from customer and system-level requirements.
• 8+ Years of proven experience defining software verification and validation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate complex safety-critical embedded software applications.
• Lead software development across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Analyze customer and system requirements, translating them into high-level and low-level software requirements.
• Define software architecture, design approaches, and verification strategies.
• Develop and review software test plans, test cases, and validation procedures.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace certification standards and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Certification, and Program Management.

What You’ll Do
