Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Avionics Software Engineer with 12+ years of hands-on experience in development, verification and DO-178B/C certification. The role is hybrid and requires expertise in CAN, UART/RS232/RS485/RS422, I2C, SPI, and ARINC protocols, along with strong project leadership.

You will lead multiple engineering teams, drive agile processes, mentor managers, coordinate with US-based stakeholders, and ensure on-time delivery within budget while advancing

Qualifications

• 12+ years of hands-on experience in avionics software development, verification & certification.
• Strong knowledge of CAN, UART/RS232/RS485/RS422, I2C, SPI and ARINC protocols.
• DO-178B/C certification experience (DAL-B).
• Experience in agile project management and leading multiple teams.
• Ability to manage complex software development across product lifecycle.

Essential Responsibilities

• At least 12+ years of hands‑on experience in Avionics Software development / verification & Certification.
• Should have good understanding on CAN, UART/RS232/RS485/RS422, I2C, SPI and ARINC protocol.
• Drive lean savings while fostering innovative solutions that improve efficiency and optimize resources.
• Expertise in simultaneously managing multiple teams and projects; and certifications.
• Expertise in all phases of project management and stakeholder management.
• Trained / practiced agile methodology in project management.
• Expertise in DO178 B/C certification process (at least DAL-B).
• Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute strategies. Have intensive and diversified knowledge of standards/procedures to meet customer requirements, project schedule and costs.
• Leads and directs a team of experienced Engineers in establishing and ensuring compliance.
• Drive building of robust competencies around the functional areas and implement standard processes across the organization.
• Designing & implementing systems, policies & procedures to facilitate continuous process improvements to ensure we implement best practices across the organization.
• Drive organizational development initiatives: Talent Management; Performance Management; Change Management.

• Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules. May lead cross-functional/domain teams in a Project Engineering role.

• Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Interfaces with US based POCs / SMEs for status & validate approach / design, Drive individual contributing technical talent and is responsible for a team of engineers.
• Responsible for tactical execution of day-to-day operations.
• Assigns technical resources to work assignments (workforce allocation).
• Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling responsibilities for groups of engineers.
• Responsible for the development and technical coaching of staff.
• Should spend 75-85% of week performing technical tasks. Remaining time is spent managing people, schedules and/or budgets.
• Responsible for conducting annual reviews, Performance discussion and regular one on one with team.
• Responsible for on-boarding and assimilation of new hires.
