Job summary

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) in Chennai seeks a Principal Designer for piping onshore projects. You will lead the piping design team, ensure design integrity, develop unit plots and layouts, and review vendor packages.

Ideal candidates hold a Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical with 15–20 years of piping experience and strong knowledge of S3D, AutoCAD and MicroStation, plus good communication to guide junior designers.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical or Chemical required.
• 15–20 years of experience in piping design and related responsibilities.
• Excellent knowledge of S3D, MS Office, AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Good knowledge of conceptual layout and support modelling.

Responsibilities

Principal Checker - Piping

These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for Principal Designer who possess experience in working within the piping design team on onshore projects and ensuring piping design integrity is not compromised while managing the execution of the project.

Responsibilities:

• Develop unit plot plans/equipment layouts

• Layout optimisation study

• Preparation of MTO

• Review of Vendor package

Qualifications including Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

• Candidate should be a Diploma in Mechanical / Chemical

• Excellent knowledge in S3D, MS Office, AutoCAD & MicroStation.

• Good knowledge in mechanical handling concepts

• Good Knowledge of support selection and modelling. Special support drawing creation is preferable

• Good knowledge in ISO checking and back drafting and support ISO team on project needs

• Excellent skill to guide young designers

• Good knowledge in conceptual layout study

• Good Communication skills

• 15 - 20 years of experience in above skills & responsibilities

• Knowledge in PML macros development will be considered an added advantage.
