Job summary

KBR is seeking a Piping Material Engineer to lead piping design and material specification activities for technology projects. The role involves ensuring quality, budget adherence, and schedule compliance while coordinating with the Technology Business Unit in relation to piping material tasks.

Responsibilities

• Quality, budget, and schedule adherence for piping material tasks.
• Review client documents and requirements for piping works.
• Design and specify piping components and materials.
• Issue material specifications, data sheets, PMS and PMS documents.
• Perform wall thickness calculations and technical bid evaluation.
• Issue requisitions for piping components procurement (MR/PR).

Job description

Title: Piping Material Engineer

Division and/or Project: KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world‑class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high‑end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

Summary Section: Candidate will be responsible for Piping Design of Technology Projects in association with KBR’s Technology Business Unit at Houston.

1. Responsible for the quality, budget, and respect of project schedule for piping material tasks


2. Reviews the Client’s technical documentation and requirements


3. Responsible for the design of all piping components


4. Issues project piping material specification and piping components data sheets


5. Performs wall thickness calculations of pipes


6. Issues technical bid evaluation for all piping components offers


7. Issues technical part of requisitions for all piping components purchase orders


8. Reviews and approves vendors documents


9. Maintains project technical files and update Company standards


10. Performs the inter‑disciplines checking for the part of documents in accordance with the scope of piping material section


11. Checks the material take off issued by the drafting office


12. Prepares mechanical valve data sheets for the body of motorized valves


13. The candidate should be proficient in use of International / National codes and Standards related to piping Engineering.


14. Preparation, review and issuance of PMS, VMS, specification & standards.


15. Responsible for preparation, review and issue of documents related to piping materials MTO for procurement, MR / PR, etc.


16. Preparation and review of datasheets for piping specialty items, Technical bid analysis. Vendors offer / drawing review. Interface with other departments for providing design input. Interaction with Vendors / Clients / Third party members.


17. Knowledge of relevant Code and Standards. Knowledge of ASME , API, EN, BS etc piping material codes. Highly motivated with an innovative and analytical mind. Demonstrates ability to work in a team. Prior experience in technical bid analysis.

• Relevant experience of 10-15 years in Piping stress Analysis.


• Graduate in B.Tech./ B.E.(Mechanical) Comfortable in travelling for work.


• Manages key business relationships with clients and with Technology Business Unit. Managerial teams in India and Houston.
