Job summary

Avon Ispat & Power is seeking a Sr Manager (Head) PPC (CRSD) to lead the Production Planning & Control function within the Cold Roll Steel Division. Qualifications

• Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgical with relevant SCM/Operations certification preferred.
• 15-20 years of experience in PPC/Operations Planning in steel/metals/manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead production planning and scheduling across CRSD to ensure customer fulfilment.
• Drive capacity planning by analyzing plant capabilities and bottlenecks.
• Monitor RM, WIP and FG inventory for working capital optimization.
• Oversee on-time in-full (OTIF) and on-time delivery (OTD) performance.
• Coordinate with Sales, Production, Purchase, Stores and Logistics to align demand and capacity.
• Review feasibility and delivery schedules to optimize production allocation.
• Drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy and lead times.
• Ensure SAP data accuracy and reporting standards.
• Generate MIS and dashboard insights for management decisions.
• Develop PPC team with KPI-driven performance and accountability.

Role Overview

The Sr Manager (Head) PPC (CRSD) is responsible for leading the Production Planning & Control (PPC) function of the Cold Roll Steel Division (CRSD) by driving production planning, capacity utilization, inventory optimization and customer order fulfilment strategies to ensure delivery of customer commitments while maximizing operational efficiency, resource utilization and profitability.

Key Deliverables

• Lead production planning and scheduling across the entire manufacturing value chain from HR Coil Slitting till Finishing (CRS/CTL & Packing) to ensure fulfilment of customer commitments.


• Drive capacity planning and resource utilization by analysing plant capabilities, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective measures to maximize throughput, operational and cost efficiency.


• Monitor and optimize RM, WIP and FG inventory levels to ensure uninterrupted production, inventory accuracy and effective working capital management.


• Drive customer order fulfilment by monitoring order status, production readiness and delivery commitments to achieve targeted OTIF (On-Time In-Full) and OTD (On-Time Delivery) performance.


• Lead cross-functional planning and coordination with Sales, Production, Purchase, Stores and Logistics teams to align customer demand with production and delivery capabilities.


• Review production feasibility, customer commitments and delivery schedules to prioritize orders and optimize production allocation in line with plant capacity, material availability and business priorities.


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy, inventory optimization, throughput improvement, lead time reduction and customer service performance.


• Ensure adherence to departmental SOPs, effective utilization of SAP/ System, data accuracy, reporting standards.


• Monitor and analyse PPC performance metrics including capacity utilization, inventory levels, WIP, lead time, OTIF, OTD, planning adherence and productivity; prepare management reports and business insights (MIS/ Dashboard) to support informed decision-making and achievement of business objectives.


• Lead and develop the PPC team by establishing performance expectations (KPIs), capability enhancement plans and a culture of accountability and service excellence.

Candidate Specification (From Hiring Perspective)

• Diploma or B.Tech (Mechanical/Metallurgical) with Diploma/Certification in Operations/ SCM (preferred).


• 15-20 years of experience in Production Planning & Control, Operations Planning or Supply Chain functions within steel, metals, process or manufacturing industries.


• Excellent in production/ capacity planning, inventory management, order fulfilment and OTIF/OTD management, with good understanding of steel manufacturing processes and cross-functional supply chain coordination.


• Proficiency in SAP, MS Excel, PPC analytics, dashboard preparation, MIS reporting and data-driven decision making.
