Job summary

Zentron Labs in Bengaluru is seeking an automation engineer to plan, design, develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs for complex automation projects. You will integrate sensors, servo drives, vision systems, and robotics with PLCs to deliver reliable control solutions.

You will document software architecture, I/O lists, and control logic, and build HMI/SCADA interfaces. Collaboration with hardware teams and cross-disciplinary engineers is essential to succeed at site commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience in PLC programming and system integration, with hands-on project work.
• Ability to design and troubleshoot control systems including sensors, drives, vision systems, and robotics.
• Develop and document software architecture, I/O lists, and safety interlocks.
• Strong collaboration with hardware and software teams across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design development, testing and troubleshooting of PLC programs.

• Read, interpret, and generate electrical and control schematics.

• Perform system integration, commissioning, and support at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot system faults and optimize logic for performance and cycle-time improvements.
• Analyze existing automation systems for efficiency and reliability improvements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
• Prepare and review technical documentation (URS, FDS, FAT/SAT protocols).
• Ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849).

Preferred candidate profile

• Expertise in PLCs: Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Mitsubishi GX Works, Allen Bradley
• etc.
• HMI/SCADA development: WinCC, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, etc.
• Motion control, VFDs, PID tuning.
• Network protocols: Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, Profibus.
• Electrical panel design and safety interlocks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead medium to large automation projects.
• Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams and international environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 standards, IIoT integration, and digital twins.
• Willingness to travel for commissioning and support (domestic/international).
