Job summary

Empower Resources is seeking a Plant HR professional to support a manufacturing client in managing Industrial Relations and HR operations at the site in Howrah, West Bengal.

You will coordinate wage settlements, compliance with labour laws, payroll inputs, attendance and leave, contract labour, and employee engagement initiatives to ensure smooth plant operations.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of IR and union negotiation processes.
  • Familiarity with Indian labour laws and statutory compliance.
  • Experience in payroll inputs and benefits administration.
  • Ability to manage attendance, leave, transfers, and promotions.
  • Proven track record in employee engagement and welfare initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain healthy industrial relations with employees, unions and management.
  • Handle wage settlements, CBAs, and long-term settlements with unions.
  • Represent management in labour disputes and conciliation proceedings.
  • Ensure compliance with factories act, EPF, ESI and other laws.
  • Oversee HR operations: recruitment, onboarding, transfers, and exits.
  • Manage contract labour engagement and compliance audits.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and welfare activities.
  • Support PMS, training needs, and succession planning.

A leading client of Empower Resources requries Plant HR for a manufacturing company
JD:
Industrial Relations (IR)
  • Maintain healthy industrial relations by developing strong relationships with employees, union representatives, and management.
  • Handle wage settlements, collective bargaining agreements, and long-term settlements with recognized unions.
  • Manage union negotiations and resolve disputes through effective communication and negotiation.
  • Represent management during labour disputes, conciliation proceedings, and labour court matters.
  • Prevent and resolve industrial unrest while ensuring uninterrupted plant operations.
Labour Laws & Statutory Compliance
  • Ensure complete compliance with applicable labour laws, including:
    • Factories Act
    • Industrial Relations Code / Industrial Disputes Act
    • Code on Wages / Minimum Wages
    • Employees' Provident Fund (EPF)
    • Employees' State Insurance (ESI)
    • Payment of Bonus Act
    • Payment of Gratuity Act
    • Contract Labour Regulations
    • Shops & Establishment provisions (where applicable)
    • Maternity Benefit provisions
    • Equal Remuneration and other applicable employment laws
  • Coordinate statutory inspections and maintain compliance records.
  • Ensure timely submission of statutory returns, registers, and documentation.
  • Liaise with labour departments, factory inspectors, PF, ESI, pollution control authorities, and other government agencies.
HR Operations
  • Manage manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, induction, and workforce deployment.
  • Handle employee lifecycle activities including confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exit management.
  • Oversee attendance, leave administration, disciplinary procedures, and employee documentation.
  • Support payroll inputs, statutory deductions, and benefits administration.
Contract Labour Management
  • Administer contract labour engagement in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Ensure contractors comply with legal obligations, wage payments, statutory remittances, and safety norms.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits of contractor documentation.
Employee Engagement & Welfare
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to improve morale and retention.
  • Address employee grievances promptly through structured grievance redressal mechanisms.
  • Organize welfare activities, communication forums, recognition programs, and cultural events.
Performance & Talent Management
  • Support implementation of Performance Management Systems (PMS).
  • Identify training needs and coordinate skill development programs for plant employees.
  • Facilitate succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
HR MIS & Reporting
  • Prepare and present HR dashboards and MIS reports on manpower, attrition, absenteeism, compliance status, training, and IR matters.
  • Analyze workforce trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
Policy Implementation
  • Develop and implement HR policies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure consistent application of disciplinary procedures and company policies across the plant.
