Job summary

Antal International is seeking a Plant Head to establish and lead a state-of-the-art 10 GWh Li-ion battery pack assembly facility in Bengaluru. This is a strategic, hands-on role with end-to-end ownership of plant setup, commissioning, and production operations.

You will define layout, equipment, automation, and workflows; drive digital manufacturing (MES, analytics); and build a high-performing team while upholding safety, quality, and cost objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the greenfield Li-ion battery pack facility from concept to full-scale production.

• Ensure timelines, cost objectives, compliance and quality standards.
• Drive digital manufacturing incl. MES, automation, data analytics.
• Mentor senior engineers, supervisors and technicians; foster safety culture.
• Collaborate with SCM to secure cells, modules, BMS, enclosures, and materials.
• Monitor KPIs: productivity, yield, safety, delivery, and OEE.
• Implement ISO/TS Quality and global EHS practices.

Job description

The Plant Head will be responsible for establishing and leading a state-of-the-art 10 GWh lithium-ion battery pack assembly facility, driving operational excellence, ensuring safety, and delivering high-quality output aligned with business objectives. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role involving end-to-end ownership of plant setup, commissioning, production operations, workforce development, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the setup of the greenfield Li-ion battery pack assembly facility from concept to full-scale production.
• Define plant layout, equipment selection, installation, automation requirements, and production workflow design.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines, cost objectives, compliance, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Supply Chain, EHS, Quality, and Technology teams for seamless commissioning.
• Oversee full-scale production operations delivering MWh and GWh level containerized battery energy storage solutions.
• Define and manage KPIs for productivity, yield, safety, delivery, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Ensure strict compliance with global standards for battery performance, traceability, and EV/BESS industry norms.
• Drive digital manufacturing implementation including MES, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing workforce including experienced senior engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Establish a strong culture of safety, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and accountability.
• Enable talent development and succession planning to support rapid business scale‑up.
• Work closely with SCM to ensure availability of critical components including cells, modules, BMS, enclosures, and raw materials.
• Optimize inventory planning, vendor performance, and logistics efficiency for uninterrupted operations.
• Implement world‑class Quality Management Systems (ISO/TS standards).
• Ensure best‑in‑class EHS practices tailored to Li‑ion battery handling, storage, and manufacturing.
• Ensure plant operations comply with national and international regulatory requirements.
• Drive operational excellence initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement projects.
• Monitor plant budget, cost drivers, and ensure profitability and productivity targets are met.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
• Direct involvement in large-scale manufacturing setup and ramp‑up in EV/BESS sectors.
• Strong expertise in MWh and GWh level production, containerized BESS solutions, and advanced automation systems.
• Proven capacity to lead large teams and collaborate across global supply chain and technology environments.
