Job summary

Medwise Overseas is seeking an experienced Plant Head to lead pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in India. You will drive production planning, quality compliance, and cost efficiency while ensuring GMP adherence and regulatory readiness.

The role requires 15+ years in pharma manufacturing with strong leadership, CAPA, audits, and continuous improvement capabilities to advance performance across the plant.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience with a plant leadership focus.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
• Proven leadership, people-management, and strategic planning abilities.
• Experience in audits, CAPA, change controls, and deviations closure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage overall plant operations, production, planning, and manufacturing activities.
• Ensure compliance with WHO-GMP, cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Meet production targets while maintaining quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with QA, QC, Engineering, Warehouse, Purchase, HR, and other departments.
• Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, materials and resources.
• Monitor KPIs, production reports and operational reviews.
• Investigate and close deviations, CAPA, change controls, audits and observations.
• Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, housekeeping, documentation and discipline.
• Drive continuous improvement, productivity, waste reduction, and cost optimization.
• Ensure readiness for internal, customer and regulatory audits/inspections.
• Develop and mentor the plant team with training and competency development.
• Provide regular operational updates and performance reports to Management.

Job Purpose

To lead and manage overall plant operations, ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, regulatory requirements, cost control, and timely achievement of business targets in accordance with GMP and applicable regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage overall plant operations, production, planning, and manufacturing activities.
• Ensure compliance with WHO-GMP, cGMP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Achieve production targets while maintaining quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate with QA, QC, Engineering, Warehouse, Purchase, HR, and other departments for smooth plant operations.
• Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and resources.
• Monitor plant performance through appropriate KPIs, production reports, and operational reviews.
• Ensure timely investigation and closure of deviations, CAPA, change controls, audits, and compliance observations.
• Maintain high standards of safety, hygiene, housekeeping, documentation, and discipline.
• Drive continuous improvement, productivity enhancement, waste reduction, and cost optimization.
• Ensure plant readiness for internal, customer, and regulatory audits/inspections.
• Develop and mentor the plant team and ensure adequate training and competency development.
• Provide regular operational updates and performance reports to Management.

Qualification & Experience

• B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Tech / M.Tech or equivalent qualification.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with significant experience in a plant leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, GMP, regulatory compliance, and plant operations.
• Proven leadership, people-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
