The Planning Engineer will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and project controls for Thermal Power Plant projects. The role involves preparing integrated project schedules, monitoring construction progress, coordinating with various stakeholders, identifying schedule risks, and ensuring timely execution of project milestones related to BTG, BOP, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and C&I works.
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project for Thermal Power Plant projects.
- Prepare integrated master schedules covering Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Testing, and Commissioning activities.
- Establish project baselines and monitor adherence to project timelines.
- Develop Level-1, Level-2, Level-3, and micro-level schedules for project execution.
- Review work breakdown structures (WBS) and define project milestones.
Construction Planning & Monitoring
- Track construction progress for BTG, BOP, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and C&I activities.
- Conduct critical path analysis and identify schedule bottlenecks.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress against baseline schedules.
- Coordinate with site execution teams to resolve delays and improve project progress.
- Prepare recovery plans and schedule optimization strategies for delayed activities.
Project Controls & Reporting
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
- Develop project dashboards and MIS reports for management review.
- Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) analysis and productivity assessment.
- Monitor Schedule Performance Index (SPI) and Cost Performance Index (CPI).
- Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
Resource & Cost Planning
- Prepare manpower histograms and resource deployment plans.
- Monitor equipment utilization and construction resource requirements.
- Assist project teams in budget tracking and cost control initiatives.
- Forecast manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and Contractor teams.
- Interface with EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, and client representatives.
- Conduct review meetings and ensure timely closure of action points.
- Support management in project review presentations and decision-making.
Risk Management
- Identify schedule risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Conduct delay analysis and prepare catch-up schedules.
- Support contract administration and claim analysis related to project schedules.
- Evaluate project impacts arising from engineering changes and procurement delays.
