Job summary

Saipem in Chennai seeks a senior Mechanical Engineer with 10-15 years of plant layout and design experience in Oil & Gas/Refineries/Petrochemicals. Lead a team of engineers and drafters, ensuring timely, quality piping deliverables across BID/FEED/Detail phases.

Role requires strong leadership, piping deliverables management, 3D model reviews, and close coordination with multidisciplinary interfaces to control scope changes and project progress.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10-15 years in plant layout and design for Oil & Gas/Refineries/Petrochemicals.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers/designers/drafters and manage overall project delivery.
• Define activities and piping deliverables, set up schedules and coordinate with other disciplines during BID, FEED and Detail Engineering phases.
• Manage Piping Material Take Off, specification, material requisition, and technical bid evaluations for procurement and vendor follow-up.
• Oversee 3D model reviews and ensure proper workflow, interfaces, and document approvals for piping projects.
• Ensure quality checks and timeliness of piping project documents; monitor progress and man-hour budget.
• Support project efforts with identification of changes to contract scope.
