Job summary

Phenom is hiring a Piping Layout & Design Engineer with 5–7 years of experience to design efficient, safe plant layouts and piping systems. The role requires strong CAD skills and familiarity with piping codes and standards.

You will collaborate across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams and participate in site visits for validation. Ideal candidates will have EPC project exposure, be highly detail-oriented, and able to review P&IDs, datasheets, and BOMs while ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in piping and equipment layout design (oil & gas, chemical, or Power).
• Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD 2D, Plant 3D).
• Positive, flexible, adaptive and self-driven attitude.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize equipment layouts for process facilities, preferably in industrial, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Power Plant Projects.
• Create detailed piping layout designs based on project specifications and process requirements.
• Prepare piping material specifications and BOM.
• Review vendor drawings and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Interpret and review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and process flow diagrams.
• Design plant layouts and piping systems using CAD tools (AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Plant 3D).

• Conduct site visits for layout validation and constructability reviews.
• Resolve technical issues during design and construction phases.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and suppliers during design and installation.
• Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of plant piping systems.
• Stay updated with latest technologies and best practices in Plant design.
• Ensure designs meet ASME, ANSI, and other relevant codes and standards.
• Experience with piping stress analysis will be considered an added advantage.

Work Experience

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• 5 - 7 years of experience in piping and equipment layout design (oil & gas, chemical, or Power)
• Proficiency in CAD tools
• Candidate should be positive, flexible, adaptive and self-driven
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Experience with stress analysis tools is a plus

Preferred Qualifications/ experience

• Proven experience in Plant Layout and piping design for Large‑scale projects.
• Exposure to EPC contractor engineering workflows.
• Thorough knowledge of industry codes and standards (ASME, API, PIP, etc.)
• Ability to read, interpret, and create P&IDs, PFDs, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with safety standards, ergonomic principles, and maintenance accessibility.
• Experience supporting procurement and installation teams with layout documentation.
• Ability to coordinate with suppliers and contractors for equipment commissioning.
• Strong documentation skills for layout plans, revisions, and compliance records.
• Experience with piping stress analysis will be considered an added advantage
