Job summary

Polyconcept in India is seeking a PD & Sourcing Merchandiser to manage product development and sourcing for bags and home textile products. The role involves translating briefs into purchase orders, vendor selection, getting quotations, and tracking the first PO to cut.

You will work independently in a matrix environment with strong English, coordinating with vendors, factories, and category managers to deliver on time. The position offers growth and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in bags and home textiles product development, sourcing and merchandising.
• Buying office experience is a plus.
• Fluent English in written and spoken form.

Responsibilities

• Source new countries, regions or factories for products.
• Translate product briefs into PO-ready specs with vendor selection and quotations.
• Track first PO for new products until PO is cut.
• Conduct market trend research and assist in product development and competitive analysis.
• Support category/PD managers with product specs and cost considerations.
• Coordinate with vendors, category managers, and operations to maintain development schedules.
• Ensure product compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
• Attend fairs for new product generation and benchmarking.

Position: PD& Sourcing Merchandiser in India

1.Requirement:

• Minimum 5 years B ags and Home textile related products experience of Product development, Sourcing and Merchandising experience. Buying office experience is a plus.
• Work independently and take own initiatives.
• Have creative analytical skills and is good at prioritizing
• Team working spirit and working well within a matrix organization.
• College degree or above.
• Fluent English in both oral and written.

2.Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for sourcing of new countries, regions and or factories
• Take responsibility for translating new products (including normal products and fast track products) from product brief into PO ready, including selecting vendors, getting quotations, requesting and validating samples / counter samples, etc. you will also take responsibility to track 1st PO for the new products until the PO is cut.
• Conduct market trend research and provides inputs/ideas for new product development, assisting in competitive analysis to stay on top of industry trends
• Provide inputs for category / brand plan development
• Provide inputs for fast track products selection
• Provide input to category/PD managers to build up product specifications
• Provide cost engineering recommendation to category/PD managers
• Receive product brief from category/PD managers in EU/US, select related vendors from database and get quotations/samples from the vendors;
• Follow up new product proposal with category manager and feedback to vendor in timely manner
• Develop new vendors for new SKU when there is none in existing database or under development by Sourcing (need to get approval from Sourcing before auditing factory)
• Coordinate with category managers, vendors, and Operations teams to ensure product development schedules are maintained
• Work with quality/compliance teams on product compliance and ensure new products meet legal requirements, work with quality team and sourcing team in case any support needed
• Work with QE on product performance testing
• Create Product Approval Form
• Attend fairs for new product generation and price benchmarking
• The other task assigned by superior.
