Role Description

The Pattern Master role at Penguin Apparels (P) Ltd. is a full-time, on-site position based in Madurai. The Pattern Master is responsible for creating, developing, and grading patterns for a variety of garments, ensuring accurate fit and technical specifications. Daily tasks include interpreting design sketches and tech packs, drafting manual or CAD-based patterns, and making necessary adjustments based on sample trials and fit sessions. The role involves coordinating closely with the sampling, cutting, and production teams to ensure patterns are feasible for bulk manufacturing and compliant with quality standards. The Pattern Master also reviews garment construction details, suggests improvements to optimize fabric usage, and supports continuous enhancement of pattern-making processes.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in pattern making, pattern grading, and garment fit analysis for woven and knit garments.
• Proficiency in using pattern-making tools and, preferably, CAD software (e.g., Lectra, Optitex or similar systems).
• Solid understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, and production processes for technical garments.
• Ability to interpret design sketches, technical specifications, and measurement charts with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good collaboration skills to work effectively with design, sampling, and production teams, and to communicate pattern-related requirements clearly.
• Relevant experience as a Pattern Master or in a similar pattern development role within the apparel manufacturing industry.
• Formal training or diploma in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Garment Technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Commitment to quality, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to adapt to new technologies and methods in pattern development.
