Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control panels, PLC, MCC, and automation panels.
  • Prepare schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, BOMs, and drawings.
  • Review load, I/O, and system architecture; ensure safety and codes.
  • Coordinate with PLC programmers, electrical engineers, vendors, and fabricators.
  • Support FAT, commissioning, installation, and on-site troubleshooting.
  • Maintain engineering records and ensure on-time deliverables.

Panel Design Engineer

Job Location: Bangalore, Whitefield

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Panel Design Engineer to design, develop, and review electrical control panels and related engineering documentation for industrial automation and process control projects. The candidate should have strong knowledge of electrical panel design, control systems, industry standards, and project engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design electrical control panels, PLC panels, MCC panels, automation panels, and related systems.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, termination drawings, and interconnection drawings.
  • Develop panel general arrangement drawings, bill of materials, cable schedules, terminal plans, and fabrication drawings.
  • Select appropriate electrical and control components based on project requirements and client specifications.
  • Review electrical load requirements, control philosophy, I/O requirements, and system architecture.
  • Coordinate with PLC programmers, instrumentation engineers, electrical engineers, vendors, and panel fabricators.
  • Ensure panel designs comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and client specifications.
  • Review vendor drawings, technical submittals, datasheets, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support the preparation of technical specifications and material requisitions for panel components.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical clarifications, inspection activities, FATs, and site support.
  • Review panel wiring, component installation, labeling, earthing, cable termination, and workmanship.
  • Provide technical support during panel manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify design risks and implement corrective actions to ensure quality and timely project execution.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure all deliverables are completed within project schedules.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of electrical control panel design and engineering documentation.
  • Experience with PLC, HMI, SCADA, MCC, VFD, instrumentation, and control system interfaces.
  • Ability to read and prepare electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of control panel components, protection devices, relays, terminal blocks, power supplies, and communication equipment.
  • Familiarity with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software.
  • Understanding of electrical standards, panel construction practices, cable termination, earthing, and safety requirements.
  • Experience in panel inspection, testing, FAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong coordination, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in water treatment, power, oil and gas, or related industrial projects will be an advantage.
