Job summary

S G Controls is seeking a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer for our Pune, Maharashtra operations.

The role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing control panels including PCC, MCC, PLC, VFD, and automation panels with strong adherence to electrical design software and industrial standards. The candidate will collaborate with project engineers, customers, and production teams, perform design calculations, and ensure safety and quality compliance throughout manufacturing and commissioning

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, E&TC, Automation, or related field.
• 4+ years in design and industrial automation.
• Experience with PCC/MCC/PLC & SCADA panels.
• Knowledge of IS/IEC/NEC/UL standards.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical control panels per customer requirements and standards.
• Prepare schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOQs using AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Create BOMs, cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams.
• Select components (breakers, relays, PLCs, contactors, VFDs, transformers).
• Collaborate with project engineers, customers, and production teams to ensure technical accuracy.
• Perform design calculations (short circuit, load, wire sizing).
• Create and maintain manufacturing/commissioning documentation.
• Ensure safety and quality standards compliance.
• Support testing during panel fabrication and commissioning.
• Travel for onsite commissioning and support.

Job Overview:

• We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Control Panel Design Engineer to design, develop, and implement various types of control panels including Power Control Centers (PCC), Motor Control Centers (MCC), PLC panels, VFD panels, and automation panels. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of electrical design software and industrial standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design electrical control panels as per customer requirements and applicable standards (IS, IEC, NEC, UL, etc.).
• Prepare and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, and BOQs using AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Create BOMs (Bill of Materials), cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams.
• Select appropriate components (breakers, relays, PLCs, contactors, VFDs, transformers, etc.)
• Collaborate with project engineers, customers, and production teams to ensure technical accuracy.
• Perform design calculations, including short circuit ratings, load calculations, and wire sizing.
• Create and maintain documentation for manufacturing and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Support in testing and troubleshooting during panel fabrication and commissioning stages.
• Manage change orders and project documentation updates.
• Willingness to travel for onsite commissioning and support.
• Provide training and technical support to maintenance and operations teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelors degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, E&TC Engineering, Automation, or related field.

Experience:

• 4+ years and above of relevant experience in Design and industrial automation (experience level can be adjusted).
