Job summary

Gautam Modi Group in Mumbai seeks a Paint Shop Technician (Painter) to handle automotive painting in our workshop. You will follow manufacturer procedures, protect vehicles, and perform color matching using data from chassis numbers.

This role requires adherence to safety standards, documentation of hours and materials, participation in Audi qualification training, inventory checks with the parts team, and upkeep of spray booths, tools and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Perform painting work as directed within manufacturer timescales and established procedures in ELSAPRO
• Safeguard customer vehicles during service by using seat covers, mats and steering covers
• Check paint code from chassis number and ensure color matching matches car color
• Provide written details on completed job orders with accurate hours and materials
• Ensure vehicles comply with safety standards on return and faults noted on job card
• Participate in Audi qualification training in-house or externally
• Reconcile monthly paint material quantities with parts department to track consumption
• Ensure paint mixing quantities minimize wastage
• Minimize wastage of all paint materials, fluids and consumables
• Maintain special tools, equipment and literature in good condition and return to original locations
• Maintain spray booth by regular maintenance (filters, coatings, cleanliness)
• Monitor work of paint shop helper

Job description

The Paint Shop Technician (Painter) is responsible for all the paint related jobs that come into the workshop.

Repair & Service

Perform painting work as directed, within manufacturer’s timescales and in accordance with established and documented procedures in ELSAPRO

Safeguard and protect the customer’s vehicle and its contents while being serviced, ensuring seat covers, mats and steering cover is used in every vehicle during the service

Check the paint code of the customer’s car color retrieving data from the chassis number. Ensure the color matching is done as per the paint shade on the customer’s car

Process Adherence

Provide written details on completed Job orders, ensuring hours and materials used are accurately and appropriately recorded

Ensure vehicles comply with industry safety standards when returned to customer and any faults have been reported and noted on the job card

Participate in required training in-house or external to gain and maintain Audi Qualification

Inventory Management

Reconcile on a monthly basis with the parts department the quantity of paint materials and paint consumables for the correct tracking of the consumptions

Ensure that the paint mixing is done to the correct quantities in order to minimize wastages

Minimize on wastage of all consumable materials, fluids and paint materials

Infrastructure Management

Ensure that all special tools and equipment and technical literature is returned in clean and working condition to their original location.

Ensure a regular maintenance of the spray booth is done e.g. filter replacements, booth coatings, surrounding cleanliness etc.

Ensure all dealer policies and practices are followed and cleanliness standards are maintained
